With a 197 average, and only 2 name bowlers in the field. What an accomplishment. Yeah, he really lit it on fire.

He still bowled well enough to make a cut.  Give him a little credit for trying to bowl a regional.  You know everyone was watching to see what he would do.

Except when he pre-bowls. Nobody was watching then.

He must have gotten better and yet, no more 900's for this guy since the rules change.

Why do people sympathize with cheaters. You must also be a Barry Bonds fan.

About 94 guys wish they had beaten him....

No one famous. ...Well Ryan Shafer...who did average quite a bit higher....

1st regional for him...

AND a poster on here that maybe was trying to pooh pooh him wishes he had been within about 200 pins of him...

Means he shot the 900sss?  No relationship.

OH...have recently heard of some comments EXCLUDED in the Outside the lines story of awhile back.....

Translation...better than 94 other regional bowlers one weekend...not better than 5.

For any additional explanations...

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Yeah, lets see how he does in a regional when all the exempt bowlers are there getting ready for the national tour. I don't know the East region so maybe some of those 94 were good bowlers, but look at the results sheet only 2 names stuck out in my mind and that was Leclair and Shafer.

What were they bowling on that 197 could muster that kind of finish? Was it like the US Open where a whole bunch of league bowlers showed up to try their luck and screwed the pattern? Or was everyone there but Leclair that bad.

If you were there you would have noticed. Shafer has not had very much success in recent years @ the rome regional during match play. Shafer went +158 for qualifying, then started off well against mushtare in match play. Mushtare then stepped up and beat him. Fair and square. Give the kid some credit. He earned his check, by beating an exempt bowler he is proving that he is able to compete with some of the big boys. Ok, so everyone likes making a stink about the 900's. GET OVER IT. that is really old news, and look @ what he is doing now and proving that he is a good bowler.

Yes give him credit for beatn out many other bowlers in the regional.  However, the guy is a cheater!  It's a total disgrace that he cheated and is now in the record books for shooting two 900 series!  It would be different if someone other than HIS family witnessed the 900 series!

In looking at the match play scores except for the winner Brian LeClair and Steve Ferrara who tore it up....they were in general steadily decreasing....most of the bowlers in match play declined in average during this portion.

Regarding only family seeing his 900s I believe there were 11 to 17 witnesses some of them military officers from the local base.

Also....from this website comments of the original poster who posted "Rome NY" in the PBA forum of this site

PA did not compete as well as Tomek...not sure why though and I must say that the shark pattern on this surfaces was the toughest I have ever bowled on.
