« on: October 25, 2009, 05:53:55 AM »
BORING!!!! I can't believe I watched this today.. they really paid to have that on TV..?? the PBA could have shown the 2/full games (plus some)of the womens and the seniors instead of wasting time on trick shots.. CHEESE and RICE does anyone really care about trick shots..?? more commercials then bowling too!! show the bowling, pretty chitty way to start guys..

sorry had to rant, what a waste of time..!!

Let''s face it Tom Clark & Co. are not targeting these shows toward people who are already league/competitive bowlers.  Just as the proprietors have forsaken their base, leagues, for family fun/entertainment, PBA under Clark is targeting the entertainment sector.  I personally don''t like it but I understand that, if PBA doesn''t soon attract a wider audience, there won''t be any PBA.

Most people here can't seem to handle reality. Why pour more itching powder into their already festering wound?  All they know is what they want, not what's good for Bowling, with a capital "B". Sigh ...

sorry, I understand what your are saying but I don't agree with it.. first of all if we were to put a chair/s out on the lanes and try and go through them or toss it over the chair they would tell you to get the h-ll out of the building..NOW!! trick shots are not the way to go, actually it going to get someone hurt.. to me if they are not going to show bowling they can at least put some better tips that can show abreak down of what the tip is trying to do or teach..

I get the entertainment part however the non-bowling friends and family members who were in the house when this show came on drifted away from the great room, leaving me and one other as the only ones watching. Limited sample but I suspect non-bowlers didn't find this intriguing enough to watch.

Where is the frig'gen passion!! If the announcers aren't excited, if the players are not shown to be passionate, why should observers get it.

I agree that many of the trick shots do more harm than good as far as a non-bowler is concerned.  Also there were so many attempts at hilarity during the trick shots that one could conclude they are trying to make a joke of bowling and succeeding.

I agree. There was too much laughter. Bowling needs to be taken seriously. FOr that to happen, We should have seen prequalifying or something.

All I know, is what got ME interested in bowling. That was Saturday afternoons on ABC, watching Mark Roth and Marshall Holman. The PBA has always sold itself, why does Mr.Clark think cutting out portions of championship matches and Trick-shot competitions are more appealing to the masses??? Let''s face it, the problem is sponsorship and declining interest in bowling as a professional sport. But you don''t alienate the fanbase you do have by trying to repackage the same product??!!! I mean trick-shots again??? I understand they(the PBA) have to buy airtime and they''re trying to fit everything into 90 minutes on Sunday against the NFL. I don''t have any better ideas, but I thought they could have done better with the way the whole thing was presented.I felt like I was fed a sandwich with scraps of leftover coldcuts

He's achieved a higher legendary status than just about anyone that posts on this forum.  After all, he's won 6 National PBA events (5 regular tour stops, and 1 senior).

Harry Sullins is a player. If you can win a PBA title, let alone 5 National Titles, he is a heck of a lot better than me. The Senior PBA tour still carries more weight than SASBA or the High Roller. His Senior title is still a Senior Title of which I will never have.

I love to watch the PBA bowlers on Sunday but not the trick shots. The best way
to watch is to record the bowling then you can fast forward the trick shots.
