Title: No Commercial Break Format
Post by: golfnutFL on April 02, 2006, 05:33:16 AM
Very Cool!!! I'll take the longer commercial breaks in between games to see the games uninterrupted. Randy P. says it's the first time in 25 years. Love the format!!

Did you also noticed that it shortened the time by 1/2 hour? I think that this may be behind some of it.

Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in one of those balls you keep buying!!

I thought the show is normally an hour and a half long?

Well unless my clock is screwed up, I could have swore that it started at 1PM Eastern and finished at 2:30 Eastern.

The show was the same length, it was just the commercials breaks were all between the games instead of during. I thought it was just great to see the games rolled without any interruption, I would guess the pros preferred the tempo also.

I would agree. It's got to be better keeping up the pace, instead of a 'half time" middle of the game, commercial break.

I'm not sure if ALL the pros liked it...  Barnes might have been able to take advantage of the down time to pull his head out of his gluteus maximus.

All ribbing aside, I think that the commercial break benefited some bowlers while it hurt others.  I believe Randy made a comment at the World Championship 2 weeks ago about Brad Angelo not doing very well on TV coming out of the commercial break.

One of the best produced shows ESPN and the PBA has ever put together.

Yeah.  Any change made is going to hurt some, benefit some.  It was no different than the short rain delay at the Bell South Classic.  Mickelson was on a roll until the delay.  First hole after the delay....BOGEY.  Jonathan Byrd was doing okay before.  After....3 straight bogeys.  Zach Johnson was doing okay before.  After.....3 straight birdies.

It is a change to where, if they are bowling bad, it could snowball.  If they are on the front 6, halfway to paydirt, they will not want to stop.  They are able to stay in a rhythm.

As far as the camera on the ball return, at first I thought it could be a distraction to the bowlers especially if it rotated before the bowler walked past it.  But, I was impressed.  Camera shots you don't normally get to see.  I thought it was one of the best shows I have had the opportunity to view.
