Actually if you were watching or paying attention, the 8-10 was on Cheetah, the short pattern, but I realize that you're just another wannabe that wanted to take a shot at WRW.  He puts a solid 350 RPM on the ball with forward roll at 19-20 mph.  He doesn't try to cover a lot of boards, but throws a pretty solid ball.

The camera angle wasn't the best, but the ball looked high flush.  Even if the ball had rolled out, you wouldn't expect an 8-10 on that shot.  Flat 10, sure, but the 8-10 was a lousy break.

Well said Strider.  Love reading all these "expert" opinions & they played it back 100 x in slow mo & on & on & on.... Walter would not have reacted that way if he didn't feel he threw a good shot.  Nor would Randy or PA.  Arm chair quarter backs always know better...... **shrugs**

Coincidence? Last time I saw a 8-10 on tv it was also on the Cheetah. 2005 I think it was and it was Robert Smith (if you can believe that) in the title match against Parker Bohn. It hooked off the dry and just died with all that power hit beyond weak, just like Walter's.

With that said, I think Walter got hosed. It was a good enough ball to leave a flat ten worst case scenario and would have had a tie game.

We must realize something else though about Walter.  He's not the young guy out there anymore.  He's still great, accurate as hell, but he can't put anything on the ball like he used to.  Without the power of today's equipment he would not have as many titles as he does now.  He's very accurate, intelligent, and know's how to use today's equipment to his advantage in every way possible.

Got to admit though, the 8-10 a bad break for any player on today's equipment standards.

You make some good points.  I do think today's equipment has helped his game tremendously.

He hits it like a little girl?  This game is not about how many revs you can put on the ball.  It's about accuracy!

i saw that on youtube not too long ago.  cant confirm the year tho..he was throwing rockets from the gutter, most of the shots were flying off the spot.  that one seemed to but it hit real light, barely tickled the pocket.  if i remember right parker had the front 10 as well.

just think it was back in the 80's when you have to make the back hit!  For a second I thought he was throwing urethane.  Just goes to show you how technology has ruined the game

Absolutely, but when your dead up the back of the ball with 175RPM rev rate, you shouldn't be surprised when you leave the 8-10 every now and then.

I didn't get to watch the finals on Sunday but watched it on you tube.  He got screwed!  That was just an unlucky break.

I can't seem to figure out where you get your RPM numbers for his shot?  You guys need to keep in mind that WRW ball speed is pretty fast.  His rev rate is a lot higher than many realize.  I highly doubt that his rev rate was the reason he left an 8-10!  To me it sounds more like a bad rack.
