I thought his flop was awesome!  Imagine if he accidently let go of the ball at impact.  I'm not sure if it would of cost him the match or not.

this may be a dumb question but I don't know the true answer.. When he did it the first time he meant to do it??  It was an intentional celebration?
I don't know the full story behind it.

Although I don't know the full history of the Machuga Flop, I do know that he has been doing it for quite a while - long before he did it on TV.  He would do it as a Pro-Am gimmick.  At the Miller High Life Open a few years ago, they announced over the PA that following the pro-am, Machuga would throw one shot.  If he struck, drinks would be on the house (or more correctly, the title sponsor).  I had never seen him do this, either, but I could tell from what the other pros were saying that something was up.  It was quite entertaining when he actually did it.  He had put on a t-shirt over his bowling shirt.  After the "flop" he moved to the next lane and calmly threw a strike.  Later, he autographed the t-shirt that he wore for the "flop" and gave it to the proprietor.

Fun stuff!
