Well, i heard the rumors that he ditched track because of bad ball reaction and went back to ebonite at the begining of the year.

After 10 games, he's in 14th avg. over 225.....

Looks like a good move real early....He also won on this pattern twice last year.

Remember when Amleto quit Track then won with Brunswick the very next week after getting an Absolute Inferno in his hands?  Oof!

This was gone over a LOT in the Track and Ebonite forums a week or so ago.  He left Track, he was seen pulling Ebonite equipment out of the truck for practice somewhere.

I thought it was very interesting seeing both Amleto and Duke leave their companies (Track and AMF), drilling up an Absolute Inferno, and winning the tournament back-to-back two years ago.  And they were hardly the only ones on the show throwing it, either.  Made the AI look very good, for sure.

I would have at least finished out the year...sucks for Track that he quit.  Its true that Track may not match up to his game, but I am sure that he had ample time and resources to see if that was the case.  If I were a ball company I would hesitate on picking him up.

bowling, he's trying to make a living out there.  He probably thought it was the bowler, not the ball, and could have great success with anything.  I don't blame him one bit for leaving Track if it wasn't working out for him.  Look at him now, in match play this week with Ebonite.  (Is it Ebonite he's throwing?)

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Well, his bio on PBA.com already lists him as an Ebo staffer again.  I would have liked to see him give Hammer a try!

Wouldn't you say it is a bit premature to gauge Patrick Allen's performance after leaving Track?  Let's see how he does for the rest of the tour and make an assessment then.

As a matter of fact, I don't think it's premature.  You not only have to look at what he WILL do but what he was already doing with Ebonite and Hammer in his hands.  Track just did not match up for him for whatever reason.

I can't really say I blame the guy for any of this, though. With prize funds being cut the way they have been, it would've been foolish for him to have turned down a big contract deal like that which Track offered. I mean, after all, that's some guaranteed money (if he would've stayed).

By working as an independent, you're relying solely upon your winnings. A smart man takes the $$ and runs. It's just too bad it didn't work out for him. But he probably figured that he made the jump from Hammer to Ebonite without any hitch, so the same would be true of Track. Sometimes things just don't work out.

Well the PBA seems brutal as far as exemptions go...  He should do whatever it takes to keep the exemptions coming.

My first reaction to "he should have stuck it out the year" was "only if he doesn't care about being exempt" since he's so close to the cut line.  But then I remembered he's exempt through 08-09 because of his win in the World Championships two years ago.  Unless he wins the WC again or the US Open (?), he can't add to his exemption this year, since there aren't any other tournaments that will give exemption past that point.

I think you should be able to stack at least an extra year onto your exemption with multiple titles.  It's ridiculous that TJ only got a year's exemption the first year he won four titles.

I think Duke did the same thing after leaving AMF.

Inverted, I know that but I was just having a little fun with his sudden success right after switching back.

PA credits the equipment change for his success so far.

Notice he didn't say which company he left and which he is throwing now. Hmmm?

It's called tact, there's no point in running down another company just because their equpiment did not work for you. Track DID give him a healthy deal to throw their junk (and yes, since I am not on staff I can call it junk! ) On the same note, since he does not have a contract with Ebonite yet, I wouldn't use their name either.

Brunswick and Lane #1: there is no other. Well... maybe a few Storms... and a One. Did I mention Roto Grip yet?
