Dick Weber Open
« on: January 08, 2006, 03:43:32 AM »
Not sure if anyone has brought it up, but The Dick Weber Open will be an old school special.  That's right, round robin match play and a 5 man step ladder!
I miss the old format and am glad we will have it at least one more time.

Agree......don't have to watch the trick shot stuff.  Maybe PBA heirarchy is re-thinking it's format.

Old school, nice. I like the lane pattern description:
45' strips pattern used in the early 1990's.

Should be some scores next week. ALso I hope if the turnout and overall tournament is a success, maybe the heads of the tour will realize that and start going back to the old format.

P.S. Noticed Capt backswing (BrunsNick) is signed up on the "B" squad, you know we want details. Go get em!

Also notice BrunsBob is bowling his first National event since... his last.

I'll see about posting some daily journals.

It should be fun to watch. I'll head over Wednesday after work to watch qualifying, and will watch some of the match play on Friday.
It'll be interesting to see what shots/equipment work well on the strips pattern.

Those are my picks.  Nothing official.  Usually when the pattern plays in "Strips" the guys that do best are the ones that can keep the most consistant trajectory for the first 30-35 feet.  Those 4 guys are the best at it to me(and of course Walter Ray).  I just forgot about him when making my picks.
