Loschetter's comment
« on: December 02, 2007, 04:40:16 AM »
Did anybody catch what Loschetter said after his 9th frame 10 pin?  It seemed to surprise Walter Ray and I was wondering if it was something directed towards him.

When I initially heard it, I thought I heard him say that Walter always averages 290 on him.

And the "I don't need help" comment was just like those guys that whine when someone going against them trips out a pin late, or goes Brooklyn for a strike.  Just bad sportsmanship, he mine was well have said "Give me a break!" in a whiney tone when Walter tripped the pins.  I perceived it pretty much the same way.

I was surprised at the personality shown today by Loschetter. In past tv finals, he has been really subdued. Wonder what made him take a different approach to todays finals.

His wife wasn't there...he didn't have the handcuffs on!!! LOL

Hmm...  I don't really believe in that though.  If someone is tripping things out and getting good carry that means they are doing everything right.

Also, if that bothers you so much, it is best to not look at what your opponent is doing because in the end a strike is a strike and maybe you don't want to feel like you got robbed.

Where did this attitude come from that a bowler should only react to a good break by going to one knee, fist pumping, crotch chops, etc. and then when something bad happens and they say something they are percieved to be crybabys, spoil sports, etc.

Can't believe how many people want it both ways.  Funny how the matches where something was said in reaction are the ones that are talked about long after they occured.

When your opponent gets a little luck on a shot then you throw a great shot w/all 10 in the pit & walk back saying "I don't need luck"?  There was no smile on his face when he said it. That IS a poor sport, not a "perceived" one.  He was dissing his opponent & like a previous poster pointed out he left a split shortly after I didn't feel one bit sorry for him.

At the end his comment about 290 I didn't take it to be meant as a slam.  I think he was just pointing out his frustration at running into buzzsaws & not much you can do about it.  Walter had a potential 290 before he stepped up in the 10th is all.

Seems last year we heard more banter from guys up to the booth when they made a bad shot, got lucky or unlucky breaks etc... I didn't really see any poor sportsmanship.  Someone said Ryan Shafer had a bad attitude last yr., but I didn't see that either.[/size=3]

I really just thought it was Walter's day.

Lucky strikes(hey does he use 16?)

Also his rev rate was all over the place...some revved up big time for him...others hardly any revs at all....

He is an incredible bowler I admit it....but I still liked Earls game better...he just looked like he threw it more consistent.

Of course I believe this week was the worst I ever saw Walter throw it and still win!  I've seen him throw it like this and lose in the past!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS his throws remind me of how badly Mike Scroggins threw it on some shows after his Masters win.
PPS I felt Scroggins threw it better than anyone on the show this weekend.  Absolutely great.  Unfortunately for him this weekand ME every week....spares count!

Yeah, just like this tip on Ron Clifton's site:

http://www.bowl4fun.com/ron/tip8.htm

The main quote I'm talking about from the link is:

"Well 2nd place is not bad. BS! you want to WIN!  So how do you think about your opponent?  There are tons of things you can think about other than your
opponent but for most people thoughts of your opponent will creep into your mind. Do you sit there as he bowls and think "Come on split" or " OK
Big 4" I know a lot of people do that. The problem is, if you think that negatively about your opponents bowling then every lucky break he gets will
really get under your skin. He will suddenly become the luckiest man on earth. "Did you see that? He went right through the nose and got a strike".
The other problem with this attitude is it will start to mess up your game. After a few lucky breaks from him and you ring a 10 pin or two all of the
sudden now you are the most unlucky man on earth."

Haha, I actually read that article and pretty much live by it because it is true.

i dont think it was directly toward him. I didnt get the very last thing he said but he said "He averages 290 in a title match... everytime" then he says another thing but i dont know what he says.
