Patrick Healey Jr. not with Storm?
« on: September 25, 2006, 04:24:17 AM »
Saw Storm's site note about Japan Cup, and I didn't see Pat Healey Jr. as Storm staffer, why did this happen? Wasn't he making videos for Storm lately?

not sure when it happened, but he's not on there website.

Maybe Mr. Carter can enlighten us?

I crossed with Patrick at the Super Bowl High Roller sweeper in 1998. He throws it great!

Out of respect for Pat and for Storm, all i will say is they decided to part ways. I consider Pat a great player and a friend, so i will leave it at that.

I actually had my contract situation taken care of before this decision was made.

Healey's a great guy, I met him last year at the US Open Pro Am. I hope whatever he decides to throw he has success.

CJ is currently a free agent weighing his option. CJ and i have become close friends and i was really sorry to see him go.

Looks like storm is doing what Brunswick did get rid of their quality players it will probably end up bitting them but its their dime

keep in mind that every companys budget is much less than it used to be. thats unfortunate for guys like CJ, but there are other big name free agents that just demand too much money. ball companies just dont make as much money ( especially off of the PBA ) like they used to, so they cant justify the salaries that were available back in the 90s. you'd be suprised to see the actual numbers of some of the contracts

I'm sure that bowlers like Chris Barnes,Patrick Allen,Parker Bohn, Walter Ray get some hefty money but I would not think that the majority of the PBA bowlers get much from the ball companies

And how do you know it wasn't the bowlers decision to leave?  These were business decisions and no one except the parties involved know who initiated.

I don't know about "all the quality players".  I don't see anyone on the Storm staff that I'd say isn't a quality player.  The whole notion of "so-and-so has a great game, they'll win multiple titles for sure" is bunk.  You can say that about every player on the tour.  Nothing against CJ, he is a great bowler with a great game who clearly deserves to be out on tour.  Same with Fagan, Delutz, Healey, and all the other bowlers who have been dropped from someone's staff at some point.

But a statement like that implies that the resulting staff is made up of ne'er-do-wells and no-talent hacks, and every great thing that can be said about Fagan, Healey, CJ, and the others can just as easily be said about current staff members.

It's not always about the money.  Sometimes the player just gets frustrated with the equipment and wants to try something different.  Maybe he feels unloved or disrespected, they showed more interest in someone else.  All the exempt players are great bowlers, most of them would beat most of us with house balls.  We don't know the whole story.
