Title: PBA 2012-2013 schedule
Post by: mogators on August 12, 2012, 09:04:39 AM
How many American bowlers can we expect to see bowling all these foreign stops for the tour this year?  Unless someone is picking up the bowlers travel expenses, I don't see how the tour guys could afford to even go.  Only 3 guys on the tour last year earned over $100K.  Is there going to be a MAJOR increase to the prize fund at these tournaments?  Hopefully, that is what they are doing because the prize funds have been pathetic for years.  They are bowling for less money now than when I was a kid.  Meanwhile, golf prize funds have sky-rocketed.  I sure am glad now that I never felt I was good enough to actually compete as a pro bowler and just do it as recreation.  I just feel sorry for the pros.

Not sure.

I noticed there were less than 10 players who earned what I consider a livable amount of money though. I imagine there is a little sponsor money but not much.

Take taxes and travel expense and I don't see how more than 15% of the players even break even.

Somebody needs to step up and put a little cash into the tour and then fight to put the TV show on a Tuesday so it's not competing directly with the NFL or forget the production costs of T.V. and invest in their online service so it's bearable to watch and put them all there.
