PBA skips Dallas?
« on: October 13, 2005, 05:06:07 PM »
Wow, just seen the schedule release. Can't be too many happy bowlers such as Chris Barnes, Chris Johnson, DJ Archer, Rick Lawrence, Dino Castillo, Paul Fleming, Mike Scroggins, and Wes Malott.....that's actually quite a few bowlers from the area to not have spmething in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. The closest they get is Oklahoma the first stop then Arizona in January. I know Don Carter West All-Star Lanes has their problems right now but the are certainly other options in such a big market. Wonder what the reasoning is?

It probably has to do with places in Dallas making a bid to host a tournament.

There used to be a PBA Flagship Open in Erie every year and there hasn't been one now in a couple years I believe.  Erie as a town is HUGE on bowling and hopefully one of the centers around here will make a successful bid sometime in the future.

I have heard that the Arena finals in the Erie Civic Center were extremely loud and exciting.  I'd like to get a chance to experience that.

Kind of like Charles said, the PBA did not come to Dallas this year because DC West is just so run down and trashy. That place needs alot of work to make it presentable for a PBA tour stop again.

There was also not time for another house in the DFW area to make a request for that tour stop.. Thus they passed DFW right by..

Maybe in 2006-2007 we can get another stop here in Dallas. I know I am going to miss those couple of days that I used to go every year a great bit..

If you want to see how good the arena finals were, look up the 1996 Flagship Open videos posted by bbridges! That was a good show!

Here's something to make everyone jealous:

I have that whole show on VHS tape.

I think the PBA does this so that fans won't come accustom to it and get bored.  If every year they came to your city then after 4 or 5 times you would probably lose interest, but thats my opinion.
