Currently power players with huge side rotation <and high revs>, and straight and great players with little side rotation are king. PDW's tweener style leaves him with match killer leaves almost every game under the lights.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Actually, Pete has almost 90* side rotation.

You are absolutely correct, I was thinking revolutions and intended to type: <and high revs> - it came out odd to say to the least - my bad In addition, like all us old farts he doesn't rip it as hard as he did in his prime.

Psycologically, PDW seems to be playing "not to lose rather than playing to win." It is easy to start playing defensive bowling when your A game isn't getting it done.

his problem on TV is obviously mental.

watch the shows where he won or even when he was struggling but managed to pull through in the end. he would throw a bad shot and be fine with it and start stringing shots and throwing them with complete confidence.

NOW he leaves a ten in the first frame and he throws the towel and shakes his head in complete disgust! no confidence anymore. sure his physical game isnt prime anymore but its still good enough to get him to TV often enough and that says a LOT.

but watch WRW jr bowl. its like you can see it in his eyes. he envisions himself winning. in his head he not only is striking but he already won! you only see walter shake his head or get disappointed when he loses in the tenth... very rare to see him shake his head or get frustrated early on.
