Title: PBA Day 3: Double D tears up Scorpion, Collins out...
Post by: JessN16 on May 30, 2008, 08:02:40 AM
Shot 2174 today and jumped inside the cut. Way to go, Dave!

David Leverage also making a nice run. He seems like a good guy so I'm happy for him, too.

Patrick Girard sitting just outside the line. Wonder if he's using all Girard layout stuff. (g)

Chris Collins has withdrawn.

Why in the world would you pay 2K and not at least bowl the entire thing?

Unless of course he is hurt..

To keep his sanity and limit an outburst, for anyone that was there yesterday, you saw Collins at his finest yesterday. I expect Himmler to throw the towel in soon too.

One possibility is that he sees that he's over 500 pins out of the cut and is cutting his losses.  Not only would he need to average 250+ over the next 18 games (probably 260+ on the Cheetah pattern since almost everyone else will score higher anyway), he'd need help from the 60+ people ahead of him.  It's gonna cost him another couple of hundred dollars to stay and bowl the next few days just for hotel and meals.  Equipment, too, I'm sure.  He's out the $2K, no reason to be out any more money if he knows he's out of the running.

I'd rather stay, but Chris Collins is Chris Collins.  Notoriously hot-headed when things don't go his way and he may feel like the stress of it isn't worth the experience.  Some people go for that experience whether they expect any success or not (Ike, for instance), I doubt he's one of them.

Chris Collins is NOT worried about finances, it is more a case of non-needed stress than anything.

This is true about Chris. Money isn't an issue and why go through the headache of beating yourself up for 18 more games to HOPE the field crumbles and you have a chance.. No thanks!!

I look for Ronnie Russell to stick around tomorrow and then on the Cheetah get in.. Good Luck to him!

All that being said, the "quitter" mentality is not what I condone. But, when you are Chris Collins, its best to just remove yourself from stressful situations. I am sure the proprietor is happy, no busted scoring consoles, seats pounded in, etc.

you could see the bolts coming undone today with Collins...he didn't look like he wanted to be there...same with Himmler...just didn't seem to be into it...

Collins really didn't have an outburst...but his frustration ended up getting to other people...he was two pairs away from Kloss...and Collins managed to get him to pull up at the foul line on two consecutive occasions...first from some kind of noise made by Collins after a split...then kicking something after missing it...Kloss was not a happy camper...

and Kloss is making the Street Rod Solid look REALLY good

Collins - nice guy off the lanes.

While bowling, an embarrassment to the sport.
