Ok so next week will be the Plastic Ball Championship and I read that there will be a Pancake Core. Is it just me or were you under the impression that there would be no cores? I think this will change things a little not much but those players with good hand should have a slight advantage imo.

A pancake is what they mean by no core. A pancake is just a small disk just below the label. A 3 piece core is usually a pancake with a small extra piece or extrusion, like a Scout or Power Groove. A "real" core is a 2 piece dense block in the middle that changes dynamics by adding flare and substantially lowering the RG of the ball.

The pattern is to be a Cheetah derivative w/40% comparable volume across the lane. It's going to a scorefest.

Pancake cores provide top weight for drilling holes. Without at least a pancake core the ball would be very odd with positive bottom weight.
