CDB vs Shannon P.
« on: November 22, 2009, 06:51:30 AM »
Glad to eee Shannon P absolutly pulverise CDB! I cant Stand CDB. I know she is alot better than what I could hope to be but I her attitude stinks and she evidently had a hard time hooking it or even knowing where to stand what gear to use to hook the ball.

Good to see her brought down to earth a little good to see her get a taste of her own medicine, maybe that will be a good attitude adjustment.

That's exactly what equipment manufacturers want to see.  Their staffers using low end or poly.  PBA screwed their approved equipment manufacturers.

Put them in a  different environment on Chameleon and we'd see a different outcome.

Arena bay surface is poor (reminds me of the lefty dominated Reno of years past) but that's where the PBA decided to leave them.

throwing a razyr with a weight hole that big is like throwing a plastic ball just a tad more hit. and russell didn't need to throw a scout. if he starts with the freeze he wins. and makes the two spares as well.

Wow here we are a bunch of non pros going ahead and complaining about the pros oil conditions. They are the ones who are supposed to get past tuff conditions and be the stars. In my opinion the pba did a nice job they confused and stumpped the pros and made them look more human. I believe it the whole story of why bowling is losing popularity new equipment new oilers the average guy can come out and average 200 the pba might be trying to show the viewers that there is still a challenge out there.

That is one of the problems the PBA is trying to overcome: Joe, the Ignorant Bowler, thinks he can bowl/score better than the pros when they see them bowling 170s on TV. We, who think we know better, can enjoy a low scoring match while the pros are trying different balls/lines/release/speeds, just like a baseball fanatic enjoys a 1-0 game. BUT to the vast majority, this is boring and they do not tune in to be bored. If they continue to be bored, they will no longer tune in.

I bowled with her at a Pro AM, all the other pros were talking with us having a great time getting to know some of the bowlers signing autographs and stuff, she came down to our lane didnt say a word and bowled.

Didnt care for the attitude Dont care for her like to see her lose

I have bowled against CDB, and next to CDB. I don't like her at all. I'll be front in line in the "can't stand her" forum.

But that said - she did beat all but one of the guys - Bill O'Neill only beat her by one pin. So the only person she really didn't outbowl was her opponent.

And she picked up her spares. :-P

I have never met CDB, but the responses here range from "love her" to "hate her".

Perhaps she is HUMAN, and just like the rest of us has good and bad days. Perhaps the grind of professional bowling can be stressful, and maybe, just maybe, some of you caught her when she wasn't at her best.

I tend to think that we should give each other a little more "wiggle room" in the PERFECTION department. I'd not want to be held to the standard that some of you are holding CDB when you really don't know her.

Sure, you may have had a few minutes, or a couple hours with her, but do you really know her, or Pluhowsky, for that matter? They are probably very nice people.

Wow, tough crowd.

Pluhowsky won because -

 - Shannon had a better look
 - Shannon executed better

End of debate.  Did Carolyn have a tougher condition to shoot at?  Probably.  So what, there have been times when the opposite is true (righties have a better look).  This is the nature of the game.  If lefties or righties dominated the field across a season that would be one thing, but this was one event and one match.

Did anyone else notice that CDB scored higher than any of the men on the show - even with some clearly tugged shots?  How about a little credit for Shannon who is clearly one of the best women bowlers on the planet right now.  She bowled fantastic her past two TV shows - it just so happened that she got carry on this one.

CDB is a great bowler, potentially one of the best woman bowlers in history.  Shannon Pluhowsky is one of the best women bowlers of her generation and it was a treat to watch a legend and and talented up and comer battle it out.  If Pluhowsky''s carry was the same as a couple of weeks ago would those who now complain about a lefty bias be saying the same thing?

Shannon won clear and simple, earlier this season she couldn't carry anything, this time she carried that's the luck of the game.

As for CDB the condition was toasted but she struck on 2 or 3 balls that were Brooklyn or through the nose, she very well could have ended up with splits on those shots so I would say she lucked out in comparison to the guys who left some nasty splits when they missed.

Carolyn is a great bowler and she currently holds the record for most consecutive strikes in a row on tv. Probably a lot of guys don't like her for the same reason they don't like Walter Ray they don't throw a ton of hook, but bottom line both are winners
