Ebonite made them, they are not available to the general public though they did mention the used balls will be auctioned on the pba website, so that may be the only shot.

Ebonite made them.  They said that after todays tournament, they would be available in the pba's auction/for sale section. I didn't even know they had one, but that's what they said on the telecast.

Judging by the CG marks on most of them, I'd say they were Ebonite Maxims.  Truthfully, though, I don't know who made them, that's just a guess.

They did mention on the show that most of the 300+ balls would be put up for sale at the PBA auction website.

I don't think I would want one of those balls for league.  The pros had to work hard to get them to hook.  Alot of ten pins and almost ten pins on the show.

Are people really this ignorant??? They were throwing plastic balls with pancakes inside them

There is a lot more then the 50% reduction in volume. Don't forget the double stripping of the lane. Very clean backend with 80's volume of oil will lead to high scores even with plastic balls.

They had to put down less oil.  Using a plastic ball on todays "oiled" synthetic would create almost 100% skid.  I think they tried to simulate a wood condition and thats why they used less oil.  Remember, wood is much softer than synthetic surfaces.  Hard ball on a hard surface will go pretty straight, especially if the hard surface is oiled.

A pancake core is just there to make the ball roll smooth and thats it.  Nothing special.  Not sure why anyone would be eager to get one of these balls, unless it was the one used by Jeff.

A pancake core almost doesn't even count as a core...it's the same thing that's in a white dot, target zone, what have you.  It does not affect the ball roll!
