Walter Ray...and his wife...? what happened?
« on: February 06, 2005, 10:52:49 AM »
They both look like they have lost some serious weight, her more than him granted but he looked a few pounds lighter too.  Anyone know when that happened?  I could hardly belive that was Paige (sp?) when they showed her!

The last time WRW was on the show, Paige looked great.  Now she looks a bit anorexic.  I've known people who lost weight quickly, and didn't know when or how to stop.

Time to start eating some more food, girl. A potato or a little pasta won't kill you.

Unless I'm mistaken, that was back in November; this is February.

If you read what I wrote, I said she looked great the first time I saw her on television this season.  That would be in Cleveland, yes?

In the three subsequent months, she has obviously continued losing weight, to the point where she now looks borderline anorexic.  Her skin has that tight, drawn look I have seen on several acquaintances who quickly lost a lot of weight, through dieting and heavy exercise.

Hey, I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't look healthy.

No one is ragging on Paige. I'm pretty sure everyone thinks it's awesome that she lost so much weight.  I just think she'd look better if she put a couple of pounds back on, and hope she isn't making herself sick.

That's all.

They read this site from time to time, so be nice....(Hi Paige).

I don't believe I've said anything unkind, but fine, let's drop it.

She looks great.  She has always been a wonderful person, My son, my father, and I have talked with them before when the tour came to ...  She was heavy and finally decided to do something about it as Clay said...Walter also dieted with her and lost a little.  Paige is not anorexic or anemic, etc.  She is in shape, like Walter, works out, etc.

Hey, it's not my fault I'm a lefty, I was born this way!

No one has ever said that she is not a wonderful person. She has posted here and on ASB. She has never acted, in print or in person, anything but gracious, polite to everyone and supportive of Walter. That is not and never has been the point.

The point is she now does, indeed, look virtually gaunt. Some of that perception, as everyone soon forgets, is that TV does make you look heavier. The fact that she looks so gaunt on TV means she looks even thinner and less healthy in person. THAT is the crux of the matter. Most of us are actually worried about her health. Such extreme weight losses and continued weight losses are always dangerous to one's health. ALWAYS!!

That's why doctors continue to give the advice to lose NO MORE THAN 2-3 lbs PER WEEK!!!!!!!!!
I went on a reduced carb diet last year and took off 33 lbs by still eating limited amounts of carbs, exercising, and drinking water----lots of it. My doctor was very happy with the slow, steady loss.
For the previous poster who lost 70 lbs in 2 months I'm glad to hear it but I'd check with your doctor to make sure you're ok.
And yes, there IS a point where too much weight loss is unhealthy by over dieting. Is Paige too thin?? Again, that's between her and her doctor. I'm glas that she lost the weight.

Rapid weight loss is unhealthy if you gain it back or are not very obese.  However, for those who weight is decidedly unhealthy (as Paige's may have been) you have to lose a bulk rapidly, or, most often, you will fail.
