UPDATE ON DAVE

We went to Panama two weeks ago for the weekend for a bowling outing and he got something on the right heel of his shoe and on his fourth step went down hard on his right knee and then fell on it.  They took him to the hospital and did xrays and thought there was no tears.  He had to withdraw from Brentwood and the Masters.  We went yesterday for an MRI in KC and it showed a partial or full tear.  The surgeon does not think there is a complete tear which is the good news but because of his profession wants to open it up to be sure.  He was able to lift his leg on his own so he says he would not be able to do that if it were completely torn.  He said in normal circumstances he would not do the surgery but because of his career he wants to take all precautions.  If it is just a partial tear he will repair it and the recovery time will be about three to four weeks and if it were to be a complete tear it would be several months.  They wanted to do the surgery today but because he takes cumadin he will have to wait until a week from today.   He will then have the stitches out on the 31st of July.

It was a long trip home from Reno but we both survived.

here's hoping dave makes a full recovery. i'd be a shame if everyone couldn't see him on the generations tour in 2006-2007.

Dave is a class act.  One of the great "Tall" (6' 3") bowlers.  Being a tall bowler (6'5") myself, I always remember in the back of my mind him saying something like "If your a tall bowler, act like a tall bowler (be a tall bowler)... let your natural size be your guide.
(I know, not the exact wording, but that's the way I remember it and jotted it in memory)

I hope Dave makes a speedy and complete recovery; eager to see him continue in the Seniors competition.  I admire bowlers with size (ex Basketball and Football players), they must really love the game, there are many options for height in sports.  Good to see it when one makes a commitment and is a great "Hall of Fame" champion.

Our prayers are with you Dave and Judy.
