I think it's more a case of getting used to them. When you're as good as them, it's no longer a question of being accurate or consistent, it's a case of learning what adjustments need to be made for each pattern, how to carry the corners, and how to follow or create the proper transition. Bowl 50+ games on those patterns week-in-week-out and you'll learn those things.
I think one of the main reasons scores are usually lower on patterns like the US Open is not entirely due to being difficult, it's as much that they don't bowl on that pattern but once a year. Start putting the US Open pattern down every week and instead of the 210 averages that make the telecast, it'll be 220+ after a year. It's still hard, but the unknown won't be the factor it is now.
