I used to record every event on VHS since 2000 then got a DVD recordable player in the late 00's and was recording shows then. It's been anything from a "tour". Taped matches in one city isn't a tour but an event. So because of this I lost interest due to the fact they no longer tour and nothing is live anymore. It lost credibility of the sport to me. While I do like the World Series of Bowling, I think it should have been moved to the summer since 2000 there is no summer tour and this brilliant idea of trying to present a "bowling season" instead of bowling throughout the year has been a disaster. While some ideas about 10 years ago having bracket style match play was very entertaining especially if you got to see this live and some higher prize funds was short lived and now we have a smaller prize fund and no real tour.
I love the dye in the oil. I thought of this idea 10 years ago. I just didn't know if it was possible or there would be enough interest. I want to see this in sanctioned USBC leagues with sanctioned shots. Not only would it get more credibility to the sport but everyone can physically see what is out there. I brought this idea on PBA.com many years ago and thought it would make it too easy. While there is som obvious advantages to this, it's just like any other night..you still have to perform and repeat shots. I think this should be the future for sanctioned bowling.
The last thing is a minor rant and nothing new last 10 some years and that is the trophy presentation or lack of. I feel it is unsportsmanlike for the competitor to just grab the trophy just sitting there. Tonight, on DVR (not that it matters I recorded the show as it's now live lol) saw a bowler grab the trophy while the opponent didn't even finish the game yet despite it was mathematically over. I wish the PBA would go back to presenting the trophy instead of just having it out there letting the champion just grab it.
