A little boy (Pluhowsky), a hot chick (Nation) and a beast (Feldman) is how I describe the final.

Nation has potential, but she really needs to lay off the 80's garb.
-
How about Nation chopping the 4 off the 7 shooting from the middle of the lane to the left corner? I did it once and couldn't figure out how I did it. Also with two women missing the 3-6-10, I guess we can give the men a little slack now.

Between the commercials and the many flashbacks, it was very difficult to
follow. Showing flashbacks at the expense of live shots is a very poor
decision.

I found it funny that CDB noted that she believed woman are better spare shooters than men...
-
Well, CDB said it's because women shoot MORE spares than men...
I gotta agree with her there. (as lightning bolt strikes me dead for agreeing with CDB on anything
)

This is true, IMO. Men, especially young men, tend to just overpower the lanes with speed and revs. Not necessarily accuracy or consistency. They don't need it because the speed and revs tend to carry imperfect shots. On the other hand, higher averaging women bowlers have to be really accurate and their pocket hits nearly perfect in location and entry angle to carry.

As much as i respect Carolyn Dorin-Ballard and her ability to throw a bowling ball her assesment that women are better spare shooters really doesn't hold up. I doubt you'll find any current top level women who are better spare shooters than Walter Ray Williams, Jr., or Norm Duke. At the highest level of competition the men have to be better spare shooters.
-
I liked Feldman's comment about going out drinking till she can't stand up. Way to represent bowling with a positive light. /sarcasm
-
I think the women HAVE to be more accurate for spares because they leave more for one thing and they dont have the big rev rates of the men to hook at some spares. And i think on average they are better spare shooters but how many women are there compared to how many men? Anyway, i wouldnt want to do a spare shootout with them

In the good old days all the best men's teams were sponsered by brewers - and your point was? /sarcasm

Whatever. Just let the women bowl and use the normal scoring system.
There is no need to degrade the women and make them use the dinglefritz Petraglia scoring system......unless they are going to do the same thing with the men.
And, were the women each bowling a pair of lanes (switching lanes), or did they each get to bowl the entire game on the same single lane?
-
Did I sense a little sarcasm in CDB's response or was she 100% serious?

Thanks. That's what I thought, but then it also looked like maybe they were sitting on seperate pairs. I DVR the shows and was only casually watching it while doing other stuff, so I didn't pay too much attention if they were alternating lanes on the pair or not.

I gotta say though, I love watching Michelle REV it up!!!!

Finally got to watch this on my DVR a little while ago and was hyped because of the women on the showcase.
Unfortunately that was as good as it got. The low score golf/Johnny P. scoring format was painful and boring. The women all bowling on one separate lane in groups of three made for a long slow telecast that was truly horrible.
I watched 10minutes of the first match, fast forwarded forever to the 2nd match to watch about 2 frames then fast forward to the start of the 2nd show only to watch a frame and turned it all off.
I really enjoy womens bowling and watching them on TV until today. Bowling, especially the PBA and PWBA are now so desperate to get something to work they will try anything.
How about 5 bowlers,
head to head,
step ladder event,
with the normal bowling score format???
Keep the pace up a little bit, and maybe in between matches have one of the bowling companies that pays all this money for PBA sponsorship get out there and pimp one of their new bowling balls or other product for that week.
Maybe have the pro that made the TV show pre-record a little segment the night before on what he was using, how he was using it, and or why. Ask them about something in between matches and not while they are bowling.
I think the PBA and ESPN are trying to kill off professional bowling on television.

kidlost2000, you got it right!
The Johnny P scoring system is just plain stupid (sorry, can't use the "R" word)!
The format is boring and painful to watch.
I don't know what the problem is with the show and the way they treat the ball companies. Maybe they want them to be sponsors. Remember when they actually had bowling ball commercials? Sometimes I wonder if they specifically tell the bowlers not to mention the ball or company. I saw CDB came out this year and pointed to her shirt and said "Brunswick!" Not sure if it was this show or one of the ones from the beginning of the season.
Watched an older show on ESPN Classic last night. I think it was from 2000. Norm Duke was using a purple Night Hawk. He won and at the end he actually thanked AMF for the equipment. You just don't see that today.
I did hear Randy pointing out all the ball changes during the telecast, but never an attempt to explain why or even ask the bowlers. What's the point of giving them mics and earpieces if you aren't going to tap their brain? Is it just so the announcers can screw them up with the "she can still win as long as she doesn't have a melt down" as they are getting ready to bowl?
