I watched Friday's and 3 of 4 of Saturday's Championship shows. Even though I had to sit in my office watching my PC's video (I don't have a connection to my TV), I did enjoy both the format and the performances. I loved that several bowlers won who I did not expect to win. One didn't, whom I had hoped would win his first.
No one bowled bad and everyone did their best, with chance taking some out of contention. Pederson's commentary was really good, thoughtful and focused for a BIG change. He often gets under my skin with some strange, unusual comments. 90% of the time I turn the voice off just because of him. Today he was on target, except for once when he pointed out how the the area between the 2nd and 3rd arrow was being worn, when the only right hander, Liz Johnson was playing the 7 board.
If these shows get shown on ESPN or CBS Sports later in the season, please try to watch it. Even if you don't like the format, the bowling is good, exceptional; execution, except for a few frames, is exemplary.
My only qualm was with the PBA: every pattern required everyone to play 1st or 2nd arrow. But such is life.
