For the past 5 years or so, ball choice doesn't seem to be PDW's problem on TV. While I'd almost rather get a vasectomy without a pain killer than face PDW in a match anywhere, I think he is just not what he used to be and it's a shame. He's lost something and I don't know what it is. And while I am the last person on earth to root for him, I still think it's a great loss to bowling.

It must be just a TV thing, since he still makes TV shows and the ladder to get to a TV show is still enormous.

Despite the high back swing and big hook, PDW is really a finesse player. The modern lane conditions the PBA players face are not kind to that style. Currently power players with huge side rotation, and straight and great players with little side rotation are king. PDW's tweener style leaves him with match killer leaves almost every game under the lights.

Dave,

While that remains true, Pete Weber has been winning before and since resin came around. Speed was always a factor with resin. That he is a great player is not in doubt. I say, "IS" not "WAS". My point was that something has changed in the last few to five years for him ON TV. He makes shows regularly if not quite as often. There is a lot of talent out there. It seems that only on TV do his problems start.

One of the major contributions MIGHT BE that TV conditions are usually different from the qualifying conditions AND they are often on different lanes or in a different house/venue.

Actually, Pete has almost 90* side rotation.

It was clear that he was having mental problems on TV last season, he even awknowledged it himself in his interview.  However I think it is a bit harsh to knock his performance on last weeks show, he only threw one bad shot, the differance in the match was O'neill getting away with a couple of slightly high hits and Weber not.  It wasnt really that bad a performance.

I was not knocking his performance on last week's show.

I am saying his performance on TV for the past 3 - 5 years has been less than mediocre, not anywhere near up to PDW's capability.
