I think he is done. He might eke out a title or two more on his way to the old timers tour but as you said, he has lost his confidence.

A bowler has to feel that no matter what is going on out there that he can step up and throw a strike to win a game. PDW couldn't even hit the pocket today in the tenth when he needed to strike. That does not bode well for someone who has battled similar issues the last few years.

One of the greatest ever to be sure. But....we all get old eventually.

I'll take the over on that prediction.  Difficult scoring condition especially for the righties.

He only lost by a couple pins, not to mention it was set up for the lefties just like Randy Pederson said. PDW will be back, there is a reason he is exempt year in and year out.

He did look nervous. Hope he can come back from this. I think the young guns have him a little scared out there.

By the way, heard them say his wife started a new job so she couldn't be there.

I am always the critic, but not so quick to call Pete a nervous bowler. He had not been on tv in a while so he may have had butterflies, but even the best have them at times. Nervousness is more of a personality trait. Some people generally are nervous, some are not. Pete is not a nervous personality. Hungry, anxious, pressing, need to win, but not nervous. You have to be a player to know the difference.

I'm sure some will disagree, but I think his approach and release is the best ever.

I think Weber needs to go back to some older equipment.
Some stuff he was successful with and had confidence in.
It looks like to me he is struggling bad with Storms new balls.

I love this. Let me start by saying I can't stand PDW but you guys guys realize that he beat 62 of the best bowlers in the world to get on TV right. "He is struggling" He was the best righty this week. Maybe you should cut he some slack. I dislike him to a point that was hard to say. And you guys were fans of his a little high expectations don't you think.

I think PDW is far from being done.

First off im not a real fan of the man, but i love his release

Lost it?  Hmmm didn't he win a title last year; YES he did. Has he had some issues on tv YES he has, lets not be to quick to throw him a walker and some depends though just cause the past couple seasons hes struggled. The fact is he is still good enough to whoop all our ass's and he makes the shows constitantly every season. Only one person has nailed one of his biggest issues that i see; he's been the face for storm so long that he seems to always throw the newest strongest ball out for them i dont know if they ask him too or he really has that much faith in there stuff, i'd like to see him pull  a Norm get a ball thats been retired for a couple years and win (ie: passion, spitfire). Lets also look at bowlers with tv let downs constitantly for years on end Chris Barnes yeah he wins one or two a year but look how many that he looks lost on. Wes, had that great year now last few years whats happened to him? Tommy Jones besides winning the dydo cup whats he done the past few years? and last Couch yeah he has had knee issues but since the TNV he hasnt done much of nothing. All im asking is why are you all saying he's done cause his age, he's mellowed out, he has lost his game maybe your all right but untill he goes a couple years without making a show even i still think hes one of the best of all time. Just my honest opinion you all spoke yours.

Don't forget he made tv. It's not like they randomly pick people to be on tv, there is a tournament and at least he got there.

He's 48. I'm just saying. I know Walter is probably 51 by now but he hasn't made a show yet.

He's been nervous on tv for nearly 8 years or less. I'd say right after his father died and he's been that way on tv ever since. He used to be the guy to beat, now he's just the guy to get a ball off his hand and hope no one distracts him.

He won last year when everyone doubted him, had a good look yesterday and could have won but would have been difficult though the way Ciminelli was throwing it plus opposite side of the lane.

I love how PDW made a huge change in his game being more upright which I noticed right off the bat before Pederson mentioned it and I like it.

He will make another show again in the future and he's got more titles in him as long as he said "As long as I'm exempt"

I think his problem has been no confidence in his ball reaction and the reps pushing the latest and greatest on him to throw on TV. Last season on TV he was throwing an invasion and  was clearly to strong for a guy that likes to let the ball work. I think the Marvel was the wrong ball to, just by watching what everyone else was throwing and by there ball reactions. I know it your job as a staffer to sell balls but how good is it gonna sell when you make it look bad by not using it on the right condition.

According to Schlemer's writeup on the Storm website, the exact opposite was the case:

All four finalists on this year’s telecast showed you at home how they played the lanes throughout the week. The only difference was three of the four elected to use a different ball than they had used to make the show. The only player to stick to the ball that got him there was Pete Weber. Even though the lanes were a little different as expected on the TV pair due to the lights and dust particles that come along with building the set each week, Pete still felt the pin up Marvel with 2000 Abralon by hand, was the ball for him. I suggested a pin up 2Fast with 4000 Abralon by hand, which we drilled earlier in the week as an option for when the front part of the lane started to hook early, but he felt the Marvel was still his best option. To be honest I even suggested a ball change again during the commercial break of his match because I could see that the Marvel was just too strong of a ball for what was out there. Yet Pete still felt he had made a couple of bad shots and that it was not the ball. In times like that, I try not to force the issue of a ball change. I merely make my suggestion as to what I see. I do not see the lane the same way that Pete or Patrick Allen do. They see the lane through how they are throwing the ball and I see the lane how their ball is reacting. Sometime we match up and sometimes we do not.

being from missouri i'm a little biased as i have met him and his father. both gems of our sport

bottom line is he made the show beat out the best the world has to offer to get there and he lost a close match.

he is getting up in age now but in my opinion looks good as ever.

flame all ya want we are sitting here behind our computers while he is traveling to the next pba event....
