Plastic Ball Show
« on: March 26, 2010, 02:45:31 AM »
Who do you want to see on the show!

I wanna see:

Petraglia Sr.
Bohn III
WRW Jr.
Belmonte
Ciminelli (if there's 5)

I think this would be really fun to watch the different styles go at it.

this kind of bowling scores are the ones that will save pba...
let the pros war with strikes and more strikes... they're throwing 8-9 strikes per game, now give them the chance to do that in other shows and tournaments, ratings on tv will be higher.

Temporarily they might be higher and then they will dip sharply as people get bored with people throwing stupidly high numbers week after week. There is a quote from a favourite film of mine which I feel is apt :- "Saying everybody is special is the same as saying nobody is" and this will apply to bowling if all it becomes is a scorefest where one or two bits of bad carry decide a match.

Thanks but no thanks, especially if bowling is ever to truly get itself recognised as a "global" sport and be included in the Olympics.

i think they cant go worst than they are right now...
Most people will prefer to watch 230''s 240''s than last shows being lots of 160''s 170''s 180s

Its about getting the interest of the uneducated and educating them. To do this you need two things, exposure and money.

Like I have said before take a look at Poker. To the unitiated/general public Poker alone would be a bore fest, but add in huge prize funds and huge media coverage and suddenly you have interest where there was none before.

What we need if for someone to organise a "Flagship" tournament which gets the public and media interested. Bowling is still seen as recreational, get some serious money behind it via some kind of flagship tournament/tour and some prestige via say Olympic inclusion and bowling will have a successful future.

Try and gain the public/media interest via high scores/soft conditions and it will just keep bowling in the sad state that it is in right now and possibly might even make things worse.

dood like it really matter oil pattern?

This truely shows HIGH PERFORMANCE BALL = OVER RATED
--------------------
"A man with no skills can be taught. A man with no honor, has nothing."

Or, possibly, it could mean GREAT TALENT = UNDER RATED

Anybody seems to score with resin, but their are only a handful that can do what the pros are doing with plastic, EVEN ON CHINA.

Good transactions list in my profile

 ILLEGITIMI, NON-CARBORUNDUM!

Or it means that the oil pattern rules all.. and the technology of the oil machines and lane surface is what makes the game so high scoring today.. not the equipment..

I've said this in a couple of other threads but people don't believe me.
House bowlers I know are averaging 220+ with plastic and Urethane for a reason..
And these same bowlers didn't average that high 20 years ago when they used an old school lane machine on wood lanes.

--------------------
18 mph,350 rpm,PAP 5 1/2 x 3/8up, 15 deg axis tilt, varied rotational axis deg.. usually 45+
HighGame 300 x 4, High Series 808
Book Average 205,PBA Xperience 185
350 RPM, 17 MPH

Sunday's stepladder show

Match #1 Machuga vs Garber
Match #2 WWRjr vs. Match #1 winner
Match #3 Ziesig vs. match #2 winner
Match #4 Belmonte vs. match #3 winner

I would lover to see the local guy Ziesig win on Sunday. He bowled great. He didn't have an open frame all day. He did miss a 10 pin on a fill ball one game but the match was already won and he took a practice shot. Great bowling.

Belmo has been on fire himself and he did win here last year for his 1st title.  It should be an interesting finals.

He won here in Babylon. That's what I meant when I said that he won here last year.

Belmo did not win the Plastic Ball tourney last year. Didn't Jeff Carter win that? Belmo was definitely using resin on one lane and plastic on the other.

Well the PBA doesn't have exposure or money - want to try another business model for success? How about people enjoying watching the show?

On lane conditions and balls - I find that the more heavy oil balls that are used the better luck I have with my mildest equipment - it looks like the horse power race has come full circle and now handling (control) is what really counts

It was the shark pattern with the volume cut in half, plus it was tailored to fit the center's lanes like every other week.

What exactly do you mean?  Tailored for scoring or just in general?  If they were tailored for scoring "as usual", did you watch any of the WSOB?
