Just a few notes on the pattern for the Plastic Ball Championships. There are some of you that think that the PBA "walled" them up this week. Just to pass on some info, the pattern that was used was a 2/1 ratio...still Sport Bowling Compliant, and the volume of oil was 30 mils. Normal Cheetah is between 60-80 mils. The Tournament was also conducted on Brunswick Pro-Anvilane, so for those that wanted a heavier volume and a longer, flatter pattern...that would've created the worst possible scenario for the PBA, fans and the players.
The whole concept of this event ( I think
) was to take the Sport back to the 70s-80s for a week. Back then, they bowled on old wood lanes with laquer finishes and a LOT less oil. Scoring paces back then ranged from high to low...with some events much higher than what we saw this week. I can't really explain why the scores were so high, but I can assure you that they weren't "easy". Out here, scores are all relative. Everybody is fighting for the cut lines.
Hope this clears some questions up. Thanks
