No brainer Doug Kent?  Where have you been?  It's been Kent/Duke Kent/Duke Kent/Duke since the season ended.

I think it will be Kent by virtue of the fact that he won the R2R.  It was a toss-up at the end of the normal season, but the fact that it was Kent/Duke in the finals put Kent over the top.  If it had been any other pair, it wouldn't make a difference to me.

I thought it was Kent hands down before they even had the roll to riches. Week in and week out on tour he had a better season.

Be that as it may, you cannot discount 2 wins in majors.

Raider you are correct. Duke had a consistency for throwing one ball in alot of tournaments. If Duke was healthy all year he might have won 6 times this year with the way he was throwing it when he was healthy.

It was Kent hands down before he had to majors as wins and if you want to count the roll to riches Doug bowled against Duke and put it on him case rested

i voted for doug kent. winning two major titles in one year was what did it for me. norm duke had three titles but missed many tournaments due to being injured. had he been healthy the whole year this probably would have made his stats much more impressive to go along with three titles. these were the only two players i thought about for player of the year.

Roll to riches has nothing to do with POY, as far as Kent and Duke running neck neck, 2 majors is the reason he won, nothing else

POY= Hopkinsville Forged.  Mika,PA,TJ,and now Doug.

I agree that Norm would have won it if healthy all year. Although personally that shouldn't mean much when looking at his wins and raw numbers. Glad to see Dougy win it though as hes a fellow NYer and a super nice guy to boot.

Normally I'd agree with you.  If Pete Weber had won it against TJ in the finals, it wouldn't have made me want to vote for PDW.  But I think it's hard to argue that Duke and Kent were the two frontrunners by quite a bit and the fact that it was Duke/Kent in the finals of the R2R makes it relevant.

Norm Duke easily had the best season. However, he missed way too many tournaments. I congradulate him on being in the top 10 in points at the end but missing 5 tournaments killed him. It would have been much closer though if he won the Tournament of Champions.
Kent was so-so consistancy wise last season, actully less then others. But winning 2 majors is like winning 4 titles. A major counts as 2 titles basically. He also has the other tv appearance when he was a runner up.
Weber had a good season including the US Open win, the biggest win there is on the tour and the Etonic win in New York. If he had a couple more tv appearances to that mix then he would have been concidered at the end.

All in all, after Kent won the World Championship it was over after that point and was a no brainer he should get POY. If Duke remains healty next season and performs the way he did last season he will be a top threat to get the award but you can't miss that many tournaments despite winning 3 titles.

And anyone who thinks that the gimmick event Rolls To Ritches had any remote bearing on the race, then you are naive. It made no difference whatsoever and I know for a fact that event is ineligable for the award and the players that vote on it know that.
