Qualifying People You Know
« on: December 06, 2007, 02:34:48 AM »
Since the tournament is close to where I'm from (DC), I know some people in the qualifying rounds.  I was there last year but didn't make it this year due to final exams:

-38  Christopher Blackmore  Alexandria, Va.
-48  Ronnie Horton  Christiansburg, Va.

What is needed to pass the qualifying rounds to the round of 64?

NVM I read that 9 members and 1 non-member advance.  Anyways, anyone else know anyone in this tournament?

They have to been in the top 9 or 10 after the qualifying if they are a PBA member.  The top non-member also gets in.  In other words, they have to bowl really, really well.

They take the top five plus the top amateur into the round of 64.  If exempt bowlers withdraw for the week (or, apparently, if they get a deferment), additional spots open up for the TQR.  Lately, with the injury bug making the rounds, there have been 7-10 spots each week.
