Title: Question.
Post by: DP3 on November 29, 2007, 01:19:15 PM: Does anybody just like to watch pba bowling and don't care what the pros are bowling on, who has/doesn't have the advantage this week, who was shut out by whom, or why there are a certain few ahead of the pack because they have an unfair edge?

For someone like me who works in a Pro Shop its a great experience to see a variety of styles throwing a variety of equipment. It makes comparing to customers who also watch the telecast easier.

Me: "Hey, happen to catch the telecast yesterday?"
Him: "Yeah, Smith did a great job!"
Me: "Actually, Mika impressed me most, did you see his reaction change by going to a fury pearl?" (Or was it a fury? Can't remember)

It makes a great sales pitch. It also challenges me when I see them struggle. I can't help but to think to myself what I would do, what changes would I make, and how would I drill a ball to play this pattern?

By watching bowlers in the various rounds and how they score it gives you a good idea of when the lanes transition and who is effected by it. I suppose for someone like me who really likes to get into it, its a lot of fun.

In the end I VASTLY prefer to see the one who bowled better and executed better win. But that's life and the bowling rules.

If I had it my way,
(Okay, I'm dreaming here.)
bowling scoring would be like straight pool & billiards: if you don't call your pocket/shot, it's a foul! and it shouldn't be a strike.

A Brooklyn is 8 out. (Basically it's not a good enough shot to leave double pinochle.)
A Squasher is 9 out. (Same as above)
A light swisher is 9 spare.
A kicked out 4 pin is 9 spare.
A strike is dead flush ONLY.

I don't care if Joe is only on the show because he drew easy matches and averaged 20 pins below anyone else. I don't care if he dumps it up the channel with somewhat questionable form. I don't really care if he insults league bowlers.

I love bowling, it is my duty to watch. We used to have our association board meetings on Sunday afternoons until I bitcaed about missing the show and fussed at them for not watching.

Post by: Crankenstein300 on November 30, 2007, 01:29:59 PM: I just like to watch and see how they deal with whats given to them. How they deal with the shot. How they deal with their opponent. Like last weeks event with that brutal Barnes/Angelo game.

Of course the "experts" will come on and tell us exactly whats wrong with the bowlers and how they all suck.
