RASH = Player of the Year???
« on: January 14, 2007, 06:34:45 AM »
I would put Sean Rash in the front running right now for player of the year standings. He's 3 for 3 on T.V., and has been very impressive so far. I know it's early, but he's got a good shot at it.

Who's your front runner right now??

I don't think he's high enough on the points list.  While points aren't everything, he's in the high 20s (before this week).  If he can crack the top 10, he's got as good a shot as anyone.

I sure wouldn't put him at the top of the list, or even top 5. He's in the 20's in points and 2 wins and 2 shows.

He's in the list of top five front runners no matter what, now that he has 2 titles this season.  I am predicting at least 1 more for Rash and some strong finishes at the majors (the 1 more win could even be a major, judging by his performance in last years US Open and TOC)

I would have to say Norm Duke or Wes Malott.
I personally don't think Rash is even in the running at this point.
Prior to today he was 28th in points, 16th in average and had only made match play in 4 of 9 tourneys.
To be POY you need to show more consistency than that.

I'd say Rash has a better bet for this years bowling ESPY award than the POY title as of now.  More appearances on the show, even a loss, or a good showing in a Major would help him towards a POY title, IMHO.

What people need to realize is titles are not everything. That point list is just as important. Rash has still had a great season and at this rate may get in the top 5. I think Jones and Malott are the frontrunners still. Norm Duke is farther off my radar because I don't think a bowler despite doing well in points missing 3 tournaments should be up there. However, if Duke was to get back in the winners circle again, especially at one of the majors I would change my mind.

As for right now at this very moment in time, Wes Malott is the clear frontrunner for POY.

I think he should win.  I saw him in person at the Baltimore Classic where he dominated with like 16 for 17 strikes at one point.  He has the best delivery on tour as far as power, precision, and accuracy.  In practice I saw him hit so many strikes in a row, it was like a robot on the lanes.  At the Baltimore Classic, he played the outside direct shot too so he is also diverse in winning his titles.

I didn't get a chance to watch this show.  Did Rash run his mouth again?

No he was very quiet this time. Probably has a lot of respect for Healey. He let his bowling do the talking.

Well he should let his bowling do the talking.  I'm glad he didn't trash talk the fans this time.  Maybe he's learned from his past tourney win.

I think Wes is the favorite right now. 1st in match play appearances, 1st in points, 1st in tv shows, 3rd in average, 4th in earnings, and a title. Best and most consistant this season.

too many low finishes for Rash.  Besides his 2 wins, he has done nothing.
Watch out for Delutz. that guy has been really consistent.  Say he takes a major or has a few good finishes down the stretch he could factor in there.
Still I don't think anybody would be able to beat out Malott.
His average is way up there, hes won and made lots of telecasts.
With major season just around the corner look out for WRW and Shafer.
