Looks like they didn't work out to well in the final match. Both guys took one and neither one struck after they took it.
I think they should disallow them unless a pin is off spot. Get your nerves together in your own time.

How do you know a pin wasn't off spot? They didn't show the racks.

What it allows the bowlers on the show to do is buy some extra time without having to pay the shot clock fine.

I don't see anything wrong with it. It can backfire as you sit there and try to calm yourself down you are actually changing your routine. I am talking about the re-racks as a delay tactic, we don't know if things were not spotted correctly or not.

When they call for a re-rack with their back turned after firing their last shot, they're buying time. You'd think after all the matches that they bowl they'd be able to get their head straight in the time given.

The best re-racks happen at the plastic surgeon's office..

99% of the time they do it for the extra time, not because the rack is off. Though there are a few instances where there might be an offset rack, it is rare. I don't remember exactly who it was who said this but Randy once mentioned that Earl Anthony never ever took a re-rack in his life because though the pins might be off center, the bowler can NEVER throw a perfect shot. He basically took what was given and made it work.

A guy averaging 170 on pba shot giving advice to the pro's....GEEZ
Bet they'll follow that advice!
-
What 'advice' did I give, Sammy? I guess if I had "multi-honor scores..over 30k in amateur winnings" like you, I'd be qualified to post some input.
I'm giving my 'opinion'. And what does my average on a PBA condition have anything to do with it?
Heck, why don't we just allow 'time-outs'.
-
Duke does take time-outs...lol's
last tourney...he takes a tape time-out....then doesn't even throw the ball he worked...lmao
Yeah...I agree...it is annoying as hell to watch them waste time...
BUT...it's a whole lot harder to bowl for cash...than to get a honor score ring...so...I don't begrudge them...as long as it's w/in the rules!

Re-racks are time-outs. Just in this case it's a hit or miss chance you take, if you're looking for time to ice your opponent and have a great set of pins in front of you, you take the chance of wiping a good set off.. or if you're not comfortable with your composure or the pin set up it's a chance to get a good rack or calm yourself down
it didn't work out this time, but it has worked plenty of times. You never explained why they should disallow re-racks.

It was more of a rhetorical question.
