Drug Testing in the PBA?
« on: December 13, 2007, 06:05:53 AM »
With all of the furor over the Mitchell Report, a question.  Is there currently a mandatory drug testing policy in the Professional Bowlers Association?

IF there were drug tests in the PBA, you would see MANY of your favorite PBA Stars getting in trouble from drugs, but as far as i know not from Cocaine, but rather Marijuana

I see three posts that asked the poster to remove their post. Looks like that is gone I think the others need to be removed that quoted that post.
Yeah there is a drug problem outthere and everyone seems to know who the ones are. WIll there be a drug testing program, I highly doubt it. I would rather see higher payouts then spending money on a drug testing program.

Marijuana is no different from cocaine (in this sense), it is still an illegal drug and will get them in trouble as well.

You people saying you know they use cocaine or marijuana, Id like to see proof. I dont think you should even post up that these people are using drugs without some kind of proof. That is their private life and their business anyway.

This is a public forum, leave their private lives out of here when it refers to illegal activity. The topic was regarding the Mitchell Report and PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS, not illegal narcotics. Stick to the subject. As far at the topic, there is always a chance that any professional athlete uses performance enhancing drugs to gain an edge over the competition. There have been talks about testing golfers for performance enhancing drugs as well. And like billy2gun said, HGH is used very often to help heal faster from injuries. When you get an injury like a torn ACL and are sidelined for a year, you do everything you can to get back on that field, golf course, basketball or tennis court, whatever sport you play.

I personally would like to see testing in all sports, the problem will not be solved until then. I think baseball did a great thing in making the first BIG step like this to fight steroid use in their sport. I think the NFL should be the next sport to conduct a major investigation into steroid use in their sport. Although, that might not be a good thing, because then the NFL might not exist any more.
