I talked with his wife during the round of 64, he was constantly rubbing his shoulder and rotating it. She said he had hurt his shoulder playing with her son. It looked like it was very painful while he was bowling. I think he did great hanging in there this long. Looks like he must have withdrawn.

according to pba.com, he did indeed withdraw due to a shoulder injury.
