I've been watching the reruns, and according to the schedule at http://www.pba.com/tvschedule.asp they will be showing old shows every day this month.  A different show every day at 10am EST, this may be what gets me out of bed during my summer vacation.

So far I have caught a few of the Senior events not any regular PBA events.  The couple I have seen Frankie May was dominating with a Teal Rhino Pro and I saw a Beast from his competition on one of the shows.  Pretty neat to see the old guys and the old equipment, some of those boys could really bowl as I am sure they still can.  I have to say though the commentators on the old shows make Dave Ryan and Randy seem like Stuart Scott and Chris Berman though, yes I am talking seriously bad commentating on those old telecasts.

I'd love to see some old 70's and 80's telecasts from ABC w/ Chris Schenkel and Bo Burton!

yesterdays was cool, final walter ray against some kid, first event for the kid and he throws 299 to beat WRW the first match I say was with bob vespi, and  they both were using  the purple rhino pro, in the finals this kid was using a rhino pro purple no spare ball and WRW was throwing a red crush/r I think, really good show, even in 93 the area some of those guys had was unreal.  the kid probably had 8 boards at the break

The finals match was between Bob Learn Jr. and Walter Ray.  Walter Ray opened early on and struck out, until last ball for a 262.

Oh.  I am referring to the one they showed on Saturday.  I think it was Walter Ray's 6th tourney win of the season.

I like seeing some of the newer shows.  I know more of those guys than on the older '93-era shows.  I'm glad they're not showing the senior tour reruns because even as much as I like watching bowling, I had a hard time watching them sometimes.  I really liked the Weber-Haugen Jr. match today, talk about intense.  Not since watching the Bob Learn in Erie show have I seen so much pressure to keep striking.

Yes!  They have a nice Lite-on at Costco for $150.  Model 5005 I believe.  It works very well.  I just bought one last week and have been DVR'ing these and transfering to DVD.

I wish they wouldn't edit the matches so much - the other day they had Norm vs Delutz and they were dead even - they went to commercial, came back and said the results and then started the next match 4 frames in.  Still some good stuff, but geez they were tied!  I wanted to see how they lost!

I got one and it's great.  Waaaayyy easier than trying to capture them to DV and making DVDs on the computer.  I've got the Lite-On 5006 which is very similar to the 5005 (I can't find any differences in specs).  It'll write to anything and everything, even to CDs.  I with the discs were about ten minutes longer than they are, because then I could fit three of the one-hour reruns or two of the 90-minute live shows on one disc.

Can you make copies of DVDs made in those recorders?  My sister has one and she is able to record some shows for the kids in the family, but we haven't been able to figure out how to make copies.  We keep getting "invalid file format" errors.

Would be nice to have her TIVO some of the classic shows and record them for me, but I would also like to be able to make copies for other bowlers I know.

Pretty happy we invested in the DVR last week, gona really come in handy.  It's great seeing the old shows from the 90's.  I don't remember much of the tour before 2000.
