What balls are being used?
« on: January 23, 2005, 06:54:34 AM »
What ever happened to the what's in their bag? Don't know if that's what they called it. It was nice to have them show that so you were not always guessing what they are using. Yeah for the most part it is easy to see what it is they have but some are not that easy. Wonder what it would take to have them bring that back?

I will say that all the bowlers that make it to the finals should say something about what type of ball they are using and the type of layout they have in the ball. It will gives us bowlers a ton of info in watching these balls react in the different patterns. They should include these types of questions in their interview section. Which I do not watch for nothing in the world. It is so, so lame.

Yeah we know what they used, but you have to guess during the show..

Jabroni all I was trying to get at is that it would be nice to know. I am not saying that that I would rush out and buy a ball that they use just because they use it. Most of us in here are smart enough to know that how they have a ball drilled up will not work for us. There are some people that will want it. I am one that likes to know what they are using with out having to guess and wonder. Since I no longer work in a bowling center I don't really get a chance to see every ball released. Yes I know I can spend time to review everything here or go to every companies web page. I just thought that when they did that it was a nice feature so that everyone knew what they were using. Maybe I am stupid for thinking it was a nice feature. So don't jump to conclusions of everyone wanting to have everything drilled like the pro's do.

True, but the .01 million bowlers who do are probably the ones watching the show every week (myself included). I can look at the ball while they are setting up to get an idea of how it is drilled, but like you said it probably wont work for me on my house shot. But it is nice to know for some of our local tournaments are putting down the PBA shots now (including the summer league I bowl in) and it would be good see their layouts to get an idea of how I might drill a ball to get the same reaction. Granted I then have to make the shots after its drilled. A little more technical info on the show would be more informative than the "six pack". I like how Brunswick has their staff info on the site (span/drillings/arsenal coming soon), other sites (mainly the PBA site) could do the same and then we can take a vast majority of the guessing game out of it.

My original post was for what balls they are using. A few others have went off in the direction for lay outs. Yes they lay outs for some people would be good to know but most wouldn't care. I do agree to that about the layouts. As far as the ball they are using yes people would like to know that. I can think of about every week so far when a tour show has been on that there are posts of what people are using. Bowling is a very unique sport in that we as a general public can use the same make of ball your favorite pro uses. Someone likes oh let's say PDW and they see him using the Triple X they just may think about getting one. Not saying they would but they think about it. For those of us that are nascar fans we somewhat tend to be brand loyal to either your drivers sponsor OR to a company that is involved it. Kind of the same thing with bowling. People tend to be brand loyal if they can look up and see that somone they like uses it.
