ROBERT SMITH NO EASTER GRIP?
« on: February 21, 2006, 04:35:12 AM »
I noticed on the show that Robert Smith's grip looked more traditional than the Easter grip he used to have.

The pictures on the Brunswick site confirm this.

Anyone have the answer from Robert or Chris Schlemmer on why the change?

I heard he changed because he has more control over his revs now.

I just watched the Smith Fagan match on strike pass.  Great match but I wish Smith would have won.  He has cut down his revs from where he used to be.  He did throw one of the shots real deep and put soome hand into it.  I exspect to see a lot more of MAXIMUM BOB on TV in the near future.  He has been close tot he TV finals many times this season and he just needs to get over the hump.

I thought the hole point of the Sarge Easter Grip was to reduce Rev's in a high Rev player, in my opinion, if Smith had a ball drilled with the Easter grip, we would be praising Smith for a tournament win over Jones instead of wondering how he lost to Fagun! The main problem that I have noticed with Power player's with High rev rates, all it takes is a slight bad wrist angle at the point of release to make a ball jump early on a tight pattern, thats how Smith missed his target first ball in the tenth!

You maybe right about Smiths grip.  However I also wondered if Smith would just go back to what got him to the PBA.  Just let it rip big time and see what happens.  Seriously there is only one person that knows Smiths game better than anyone is Smith himself.  If he feels more comfortable using a standard grip then that is what he should use.  I'm sure we will see him in the finals again this season.
