Roll to Riches Spoiler
« on: April 14, 2006, 01:25:27 AM »
Wow, can you believe it. Barnes won it again. He has made more than $300,000 in the past week. It's unfortunate that he is just catching fire now that the season is over. Maybe winning these past two events will give him enough steam to have a big year next season. We'll see. I'd like to see Barnes win a few titles and get POY. He deserves it.

That's awesome.  Chris Barnes is a great bowler and has some luck rolling his way.

When it's all said and done Barnes will end his carrear with more titels than any bowler in history.  I personally feel he is the best bowler on tour.

As much as I'd like to see that happen, I think it is highly unlikely. Barnes had too many years of not winning to eventually win more titles than anyone. Even at this pace, if he wins 2-3 titles a year for the remainder of his career, he'll end up just over 30.

Now if you wanna talk about a guy who has the potential to overtake the record of most all time, I think Tommy Jones is the guy you need to consider.

It airs the 23rd.

Some drunks along the side of the lanes couldn't stay quiet and they caused Tommy Jones and Scroggins to make bad shots.  Chris Barnes made the most good shots throughout the event; but the big money ball was perhaps his worst shot all evening...  Scroggins had just made a bad shot due to the distraction and then Barney threw the bad ball and got the break he alluded to in the pre-final interview...

One middle-aged lady was so drunk she fell flat on her face right in front of us in the gutter - how appropriate!  She dropped her beer and Von Krueger gives her another; whoops!  That didn't work out too well for the bowlers...

I've met Chris Barnes and spent two days with him (at Studio Buffa in Montreal, Quebec) last August.  He definitely did not come across as 'cocky'.  He was very patient, knowledgable, and supportive.  He also talked about the mental game (and his struggles with it), and I'm glad to see that he's no longer choking.  He seems to be a little more quiet than say for example Del Warren, but nevertheless, he's still a great guy to talk to no matter what the subject.

The pattern they laid out was just a THS.  Chris Barnes was the second person I saw to use the EPX-T1 (saw Del Warren use it the night before), and regardless of what ball he picked out of his bag, he just pounded the pocket shot after shot.  Best bowler on a THS I've ever seen, lol!  He's a great bowler and a great guy!

Anyone that thinks Chris Barnes is a saint should have seen him after the twins were born at the Queens tournament while his wife was bowling.  I heard he was rolling the stroller up and down the concourse and just soaking up all the attention that the ladies were giving him (the twins).

since the cat's out of the bag i'm happy for chris barnes winning this event. he's had many bad breaks on tv and he's out-thought himself too much as well( his own admission ). i would have preferred walter ray williams, jr., to have won but at least he stayed in the competition longer than pete weber. in fact, when williams, jr., and weber went heads up walter ray beat him yet again.

I'm not a Barnes basher myself...just noting his previously bad habit on TV.

My friend bowled on his pair during the US Open and he said"He's the best".
Had fun bowling with him too!

I asked about his dumps into foul line...he said didn't do any dumpin with me!
