TITLES
Tom Smallwood, 1 (PBA World Championship - 12/13/2009)
Ryan Ciminelli, none

SEASON POINTS
Tom Smallwood, 136873 = 8th Place
Ryan Ciminelli, 97180 = 18th Place

PLAYER OF THE YEAR POINTS
Tom Smallwood, 29 = 5th Place
Ryan Ciminelli, 24 = 8th Place

EARNINGS
Tom Smallwood, $87,060.00 = 5th Place
Ryan Ciminelli, $48,550.00 = 15th Place

CASHES
Tom Smallwood, 13 out of 15 events
Ryan Ciminelli, 7 out of 14 events

MATCH PLAY APPEARANCES
Tom Smallwood, 7 out of 15 events
Ryan Ciminelli, 4 out of 14 events

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND APPEARANCES
Ryan Ciminelli, 3 out of 14 appearances
Tom Smallwood, 2 out of 15 appearances

AVERAGE
Ryan Ciminelli, 217.86
Tom Smallwood, 212.56

Although Ryan averaged higher and got on TV on more time than Smallwood, the nod has to be given to Smallwood for his other more consistent accomplishments.

Ryan isn't a rookie. I believe this is at least his 2nd year full touring. This is Toms first year though and I think is a shoe in.

i do not believe that smallwood is eligible either.  It only shows the past a couple of years but he has been a pba member for years according to that Sports Illustrated article but i could be wrong. If he is eligible he will get it but if not i would say it would be La Caze for ROY

LaCaze.  It's his first year with a card.  Won a title.  It's Ciminelli's 3rd year on tour. Smallwood's 3rd or 4th.

Smallwood is not a rookie. If I remember right he among many bowled on the final tour season before the PBA made the "exempt tour." I think it was the 02-03 season but can't remember.
In any case I saw him tear it up back then in Dallas, TX into match play and dominating the brackets until Mike Machuga beat him in the round of 8 otherwise Smallwood would have made tv. Never heard of Smallwood at the time until watching him live attending that tournament.

Ryan Ciminelli isn't a rookie either. As for LaCaze I think he's eligible but depends on how many tournaments he bowled last season to be considered as a rookie this season.

LaCaze didn't join until the tour trials this year. He made his exemption for 2010-11 thru the tournament he won in January and didn't bowl a stop as a member until after he joined for this season. This makes him the hands on favorite to win it since both Smallwood and Ciminelli have bowled enough events over the past few years to not meet the criteria. Wayne Garber would be second if he has not went over the criteria for national stops bowled.

It's too bad they don't award the exemptions out of the regions anymore. This gave the tour it biggest potential for ROY candidates along with Trials.
