This week's PBA scoring pace

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am loving the scoring pace this week.  2 guys averaging 220 after 6 games, and 230 is a monster score right now.  I for one am a fan of the lower scoring environments that the Shark, US Open, and World Championship patterns provide.  I know most fans love to see high scores, and that is fine with one on 1 or 2 of the 5 patterns.  But I think that the scoring pace should be brought down as a whole for the tour.  

What do all of you think?

duke did say on sunday he was a 50/50 shot at bowling this week.

I agree, but at the same time, Norms just trying to make a living, and is probably just barely breaking even for the week when you add in traveling expenses and hotel rooms.

It seems to me it's Norm's decision, and his spot/exemption to do with what he pleases. I know he's anxious to be back out there, and is probably hopeful every week that he can do it.

I know there are guys out there that are disappointed to not make the cut from the PTQ, and when they see one less space, get frustrated. A friend of mine was in that position in Medford. BUT - they knew how many spots going in, and some made it, most did not.

Nice to watch the big boys move and adjust to tougher conditions.  You can certainly learn by watching them that way, see what they try in what order, what works, what doesn't.  Huge bonus if you can get a chance to speak with them afterwards about it.

compare yesterdays scores in qualifying compared to the scores in the round of 32 today----wow !!!!

If you're just breaking even, what's the point?  Stay at home with the family for a week, fly out on Saturday night for the telecast, then sleep in your own bed on Sunday.  Whether you're flying or driving makes no difference since you're doing it anyway.  You save a week's worth of hotel bills and food bills, plus you get to see your family.

I agree with Rev_O, ESPN's paying him for his announcing, so it's not like he's losing out to make the trip just for the telecast.

I think the great slump of 2006-2007 is finally coming to an end!!


The shark pattern use to be like a house shot on our wood lanes.  We went synthetic, so I haven't bowled on the new version on wood.  Either way it should be easier than on synthetic, just not something they are use to.
