Title: Sean Rash nearly making the 7-10
Post by: BrianCRX90 on October 28, 2008, 12:11:26 PM
You would think someone eventually would make it. It's been since 1991. I think since Stayrook's last conversion I have never seen anyone that close to making it. He lofted it, threw it hard, ball had a tad of axis and slammed the 10 pin.
Only one I can remember that came that close was Mike Mineman of all people nearly did it and remember Parker Bohn like 10 years ago come very close.

He lofted it. I was sitting right behind him (next to Carmin Salvino)and was surprised how far he threw it down the lane. Later in the match when he made a ten pin spare that shot across and would have certainly taken out the seven.

He did come darn close to making it, and he would have had it later in the match, as Burgat stated.  I am not surprised that it has not been made since 1991, it doesn't get left very often, and the conversion rate is extremely low.  I heard once that there are 4X as many 300's as 7-10's converted every year.  I am not sure if that is true or not, but it sounds pretty close.  I think it was more amazing how there were two made in the same season back in 1991 (Mazza and Stayrook), and even more amazing that they were both lefties, which has no correlation but it is fun to point out.

No, he jammed his hand. I'm suprised he didn't hurt himself too

The very next 10 pin thrown at by Rash bounced off the wall...rolled over and was moving quickly right over the 7 pin spot!

I have a friend who is quite good and he throws hard and to the inside also and often rolls his 10s right over the 7 spot in practice!  I have yet to see him actually pick the thing up....but I'm sure he can!

Yeah, you could definitely hear the ball hit the ground before being "lofted" out so far onto the lane. I'm glad Rash isn't hurt, I probably would've broken a finger if that happened to me, lol.
