Several observations from the show!
« on: February 19, 2006, 12:06:30 PM »
1.  Robert Smith is no longer using the Sarge Easter grip.

2. His revs are more normal looking at least on this shot(ie not really more than Jones, BArnes or Rash at least to the naked eye!

3. Tommy Jones is very very good and always lucky!

4.  Ryan Shafer is better than ever(I loved how great he was throwing it)!  And always unlucky! Man did he throw a great game except for one ball!

5.  Michael Fagan may be near the verge of superstardom...but still...not so lucky!

I have a few comments myself...

-Fagan lost the game to Jones because he missed a 3 pin.....WOW
-I take nothing away from Jones or his talent, but he does seem to be quite lucky.
-TJ's three step approach was just amazing. Earned him a lot of credibility with me.

Tommy may be lucky, but I think its a combination of his game and equipment he was using.  Shafer had a bad look at first until he played tighter and finally found it.  As much as I dislike shafer, he did have a great week but I'm so happy at least Jones won it.

Robert switched back to a normal fingertip at the Medford stop in early 05.

Great show!!
I wish Robert Smith has won, but oh well.........props to Fagan for picking the 67-10....wow!!  Great shot....textbook....IF there is such a thing!

I don't like Ryan Shafer's style,....and sometimes he can be an a-$-$...BUT...yesterday ,....I truly felt for the guy!  He's a grinder and a competitor and aside from a few 'scenes' he's had .....seems like a good guy...

He'll get his major soon enough

TJ matches with up with The One better than anyone this season.  Notice he hasn't used The Big One on TV yet.

Does anyone agree that Robert Smith was nowhere near 500 rpms on this show?

Or did the ball just mask the revs?  I just only perceived normal big hand!
Maybe even less than Fagan?

Did anybody catch the bad move that Ryan Shafer did to Tommy Jones when he had his head and face bended down. Right in front of Tommy Ryan kicked up his leg backwards and Tommy had to move his head back. He could have done that move anywhere in the approach but he did it right in front of Tommy's face.

Did he do it to get Tommy out of his concentration or just a bad sportsmanship move. Who ever has the match recorded between Tommy and Ryan can go back and see it.

It was a great show after all. Will like to see a final between Robert Smith and Tommy Jones this season.

numberone....oh yeah plenty of revs...but noticeably more than Chris Barnes...or Tommy Jones...I'm not seeing that type of action any more?

Yes, no, maybe?

I thought it was a great show and the best player won, but I have never seen any evidence that axis tilt keeps the pins lower. In my mind, the only things that control how high or low the pins fly is ball speed and the circumference of the ball.

Ryan Shafer crossed with me during the pro-am in Atlanta. He was a really nice guy. Actually all the pros were very amiable & even funny at times.

I always find Tommy's ball selection interesting.  Last year it was almost nothing but the big time.  This year he has yet to use it on tv.  When the one and the overtime came out, all tommy was throwing was the overtime.  He used it on the first couple shows he made, now nothing but the one.  Granted, he found time to cut loose the v2 and the black ice, but one he gets comfortable with a ball thats all he uses.

I was actually caddying for smith this week at the open and I'd just like to say I was amazed by his game. I think he's gonna be back on a few more shows this season. I was amazed by the revs/speed on his ball, as well as his mental game, but that's why he's a pro. I'd also like to say robert is a great guy and it was awesome caddying for him.

I'm personally amazed at Michael Fagan's game and also by Sean Rash's game!
