I like bowling as much as the next guy, but the summer shootout series is really boring to watch. I'll take the winter stuff when you see more bowling anyday. I'll DVR the summer bowling, but if I don't get to watch it it's no big loss.

I actually like it, I like seeing a handful of my favorite players at once, and seeing them in a more relaxed mood joking around stuff. I think it's a nice break from the regular season and a ton more entertaining then the King of bowling crap.

I like to see how Belmonte is horrible and it's just a foreshadowing of how he won't win a single event on the tour next year.

He is not horrible, but he does look like he is in a slummmmmp.

Didn't mean to sound like a hater but I just don't think he is as good as everyone is hyping him to be. I know the PBA and USBC is begging for him to be the new poster boy for bowling but I really don't want to see that happen.
and sorry to get off topic.. but the shootout is just ok for me too. I like watching the guys bowl , and talk trash, and get interrupted right when they are about to bowl.. but there is just something missing in it for me. Maybe I never saw what they are bowling for or what the whole thing is about. Just seems like a bunch of matches thrown together that don't mean much.. I think I would rather see some sort of big money skins competition or something like that. The baker style is a nice change but it loses my interest after a game or so.. It makes the guys that throw horrible shots look bad in that they only have 2 shots a game.. and the guys that make a good shot doesn't have that big of an impact cause that is what they are supposed to do. During the normal year when a bowling strings a great 10 frames together or battles back after struggling that is what I like about the regular season.
also .. not sure what I think about the endless 10th frame..
sorry about the rambling .. just throwing out random thoughts..

You want to put some money on that?

I like the show. You get to see the best out there throwing on the same conditions at the same time. The creme has to rise to the top.

I think the event is fine, but could use a little refresher. If they have it again next year, I'd like to see teams with 3-4 touring pros, 1-2 WPBA bowlers, and 1 senior/legend bowler like Marshall Holman or Carmen Salvino. This would cut down on the number of current PBA bowlers appearing, so maybe a 4th team could be added.

Six Flags Shootout is boring
I know THAT'S right. If I want to watch a few goofballs clowning around and having fun while bowling, I'll go to the local center on glow-bowl night.
It doesn't even feel like a real competition.
P.S. AND, who the heck bowls OUSIDE? Maybe the N.B.A. would be interested in an outdoor game down at the municipal courts?

I deleted all of them from my DVR earlier today, what a waste of PBA money putting these guys up for a few weeks or so to film this boring stuff.
Could have added a new major or two for the same money in prize funds.

The PBA has been bowling outside since the 90's, going all the back to the Villages in Florida.

What I wanna know is why there are earpieces on the guys who are bowling. They're 6 man teams w/ 1 guy sitting out. The players sitting out should be the ONLY ones wearing an earpiece. I stink, and if I suddenly heard a voice in my ear while trying to line up, I'd be a little annoyed.
But whatever. I've gotten to see some of the new Global stuff being thrown.

Maybe Belmonte just doesn't bowl well outside. There are great tennis players who don't play well on clay courts, baseball players who don't do well on turf, etc. I think he'll be fine. I don't think the summer shows are as exciting as just entertaining. It's like the homerun derby or an all-star game. It's fun for a change, but also it's just a couple events, not the whole freaking summer. I'd much rather see a whole summer of World Cup style stuff, I can watch that for hours.

I like the casual aspect, the smack-talking, the shorts, sunglasses, etc. Still, for whatever reason, I don't find it as interesting this year as before. I'm not sure why. In any case, it still beats not having any bowling on TV.
I don't like that two of the teams are wearing practically the same jerseys. Somebody should've flipped a coin between Lumber Liquidators and Bayer to decide yellow versus some other color.
Oh, and speaking of jerseys - I am really getting sick of bowlers looking like NASCAR drivers. Fagan is the worst! Yeah, I know that it helps the bowlers make some extra cash, but it's still an eyesore to see corporate logos all over a shirt.
And speaking of Lumber Liquidators - thank heavens they finally filmed some new commercials! I couldn't take seeing another season of that same guy in front of the original Lumber Liquidators store. It became worse than seeing Walter Ray "leave it open" ad nauseum!

You are so right about that. Face it , bowling is a nerd sport. Golf is a nerd sport. Cycling however riding 2500 miles in 3 weeks with 1000 of those miles up in the Pyrenees Mountains is VERY COOL! Tennis is a bad arse sport for those in prime shape. Running is a sport for those in prime shape. Power Lifting is for the strongest.
Bowling is for the nerds and none of those guys are cool at all...sorry...
Yes, I am a BIG nerd thank you!

Seriously. The tourney he won last year for he qualifed for through the TQR. AND it was one of those ridiculous tourneys with a different shot on each lane. Im sorry that takes some serious skill, no matter how many hands you use.

I enjoyed seeing different bowler's styles one right after another. I did watch all the preliminary rounds. I was looking forward to the finals which I thought might be more exciting. However my brain says it wasn't all that great - I fell asleep about half way through the finals - it was kind of like watching guys take their practice shots before the match starts, interesting for awhile, but too much of the same thing. There was a lack of intensity by the players which was contagious

I think if they had 4 man teams and if each bowler had 3 shots in a row and the last bowler has the 10th it might be a little more exciting. If they get their 3 then that is pretty huge.. and then if the next guy starts out with a strike, it is a big increase on the score.. but since it is there first shot their is some drama as to if the shot will be good or bad.. but then they have the 2 others to adjust and make up for it..I think it would showcase more of their skill and ability to adjust or not adjust if the first ball is bad.. the way it was it was like .. ok these guys are supposed to strike.. but they are waiting 10 or 15 mins to throw one shot so I can't get on them that bad for not striking. Like you said.. it was like watching them throw warm ups.
