and the prize fund shrinks as bowlers all over the country go...Gramdma shot 190 last week with a 12 pound ball!
Yuck!

The pros continue to miss simple spares its almost unbelievable but I saw it,that sure doesn't speak well for the pros either

$25,000 for first price, that is just sad, sad, sad

I thought the reason PBA stop the tour and only bowl in Detroit was to save money, where did those money went to? it sure didn't went into the price fund.
-
Ya the PBA of today is a joke !!!! Pretty sad when the prize funds and telivised 300 games made you a HUGE paycheck ..... 1975 1st place 40,000
2009 1st place 25,000
.... and then whats even worse is ''exempt'' pros like Mike Devaney sleeping in his truck, literally homeless he says just to afford to bowl in the WSOB and his wife and kid staying at her parents house. Open the Tour back up to anyone !!! raise the entry fees a bit , and anyone who wants to shoe up with the best .... can do it ! The top players out there will just see it as ''donations'' but honestly I think it would raise the prize fund and get more sponser interest.
-
But the only time Tom Clark wasn't smiling was when Devaney pulled ahead Belmo.

I agree. I liked it better when the tour was a longer format from week to week with open entries.

Just watched a quick video at the end of the championship match....
I still can never figure out why you use a plastic ball at 'any' bucket ....I'll just never understand it....

Because you bowl on a walled up house shot and they don't.

When Belmo was bowling in the finals, he threw one up 7 and hit 4 down lane and goes light pocket. Not flush, light pocket. He gets up next time on that lane, hits 7 again, this time hits 5 1/2 down lane and almost gets 4 through the face. Thats how hard that sh*t is

That's really sad about Devaney... I remember a couple of years ago he said he would quit the tour tomorrow if he found a job that paid $15 an hour.
-
I think the Pros stink. With todays choice of equipment (Plastic, Urethane,
Reactive, Particle, weak core, strong core ...), there is no excuse for
bowling below a 200. Excpet for one, not being a good bowler.
I wonder how Earl Anthony, in his prime, would do on these
lane conditions? I can only guess, he would finish
first or second in every WSOB tournament. In his prime,
Mark Roth would have killed these lane conditions as well.
Just my opinion.
As for the prize money, it is a joke. I think the pro bowlers,
20 years ago, made more money. I think, professional bass
fishermen make more. Same goes for X games athletes.

Wow. On the show it said Devaney was part owner of some racehorses?

The spare shooting has been absolutely terrible thus far this season on TV. The telecast have been sort of inert but still enjoyable. I'd rather have some bowling than no bowling at all.

Having a %10 interest in a $1500 horse doesn't mean much.

I agree I don't care what format they use, I still never miss it and never will.

I have talked to two bowlers who bowled at the WSOB. One made a show and the other has a couple of Majors in his career. Both of them say that the Arena bay is tough. It hooks about 2 arrows more than the qualifying bay. Even when the PBA tried to correct the friction with pattern adjustment it go worse. When a pattern is flat land you have friction at you feet it makes for a hard scoring enviroment. Missing single pin spares still shouldn''t happen but they said when you are that fustrated and confused you can lose focus and miss them. As a pro you shouldn''t but everyone is human.

Well i do know B.A.S.S. pros make more in bass tourneys !!! along with a 45,000 or 55,000 check , sometimes they get a free bass boat as well if they are sponsered by Ranger or Skeeter boats. Professional dart players make more than pro bowlers ...... thats REALLY sad ! ( even more sad is ESPN televises that crap. )
