What is this, 2003?  The 03-04 season was just dominated by Storm staffers.

Storm covers are the cleanest in the industry, they get thru the front extremly clean. Rarely ever reading early friction.

That would be the "Storms go long and snap hard" stereotype, I guess.

It's both. But it's no coincidence that the Storm guys are finishing top of the pile often on Tour and a lot of free agents are choosing to use Storm balls. Not to mention they are dominating the USBC Championships.

Translation: When it's not the ball I use, it's the players.  When it is the ball I use, it's the ball.

If these guys were all using the Total NV, you can guess the type of threads you would be seeing.

That will never happen.  Anyone that knows anything about bowling knows that Ebonite gets owned by Storm anyday anytime anyplace.  Besides we all know the Total NV is Totally OVERRATED.

Nah I am sure it is a good ball just like every other bowling ball.  The thing is I think more people use Ebonite, so there is more user-generated hype behind each release.  More people to pop in and say: This is the best ball ever.  Period.  End of discussion.

A lot of the bowlers in my league I see tend to copy each other.  I don't know if it is the same everywhere else...  This word of mouth helps them out a lot.

Best ball ever?  Period?  End of discussion?  Well I guess I have to buy that!  Oh crap, I still have to know how to bowl?

LOL its a good point Fluff E, but it has to be said, the last few weeks we have seen a lot of success with Storm products on the Tour.

Ebonite and Hammer had the best first half, it seems the tide might be changing.

Brunswick absolutely dominated a few years back.

It tends to go in cycles and I believe right now Storm are on top.

The players do a lot to make the balls look good.  An of the players on tv could easily go to any other company and probably looked just as good. The best bowlers are simply that the best so they can do it with any ball company.

One thing Storm has that gives them the advantage is Chris Schlemmer.  He knows his bowlers, knows the lane conditions, and can set up the equipment to give his guys a larger mistake room.

Not that these guys make many mistakes but that extra board of room really loosens up their arm swing.

I believe that almost every ball company has a product rep out there Rick from Brunswick does the exact same things.  Guys it is pretty clear the bowlers are just that good.  The ball does not make the shot they do.  Any they could go to almost any company and get lined up with there stuff as well.  Storm has just got a good staff this year.

Although I believe the bowlers are just that good you still have to match up. Lets not forget what happened to Patrick Allen this year after he switched from Track to Ebonite. Track didn't work for him. On the other hand Wes Mallot is in the running for player of the year with the same equipment. There are good balls from many different companies but if you don't match your game to cover, core and pattern it doesn't matter how good you are because you will lose to someone just as good that has matched up.

All I am saying is there are actually people calling the Total NV the best ball ever made.

Wow.  Keep drinking the Kool-Aid guys!  Imagine what would have happened if 4 out of 5 bowlers on the show were using the Total NV.  These guys heads would have probably exploded.  Now when it is Storm they will see it as the bowler, not the ball.  Oh ok.   That's pretty convenient.

In reality it is a combination of matching your equipment to your style and what you are bowling on.

Tour caliber player or not, no one can outbowl a bad ball reaction. Bad ball reaction creates a snowball effect, because as bowlers we try to "manufacture" a ball reaction. This leads to a bevy of other problems. Most guys on tour are free agents, so they can pick anything they want. Lately its been Storm.

I disagree.  At the PBA level, equipment is that 1-2% extra that puts people at the top.  Everyone in the PBA is very good.  It then comes down to their equipment.

I'm gonna disagree, as well.

Since each professional bowler fails to hit the pocket an average of 10-15% of the time, it's the bowler that executes their best shot and limits the mistakes that they make.  Since most of the bowlers on tour have SOME level of staff influencing their ball selections, it's up to them to complete the task at hand.  If you're throwing the "correct" ball like crap, you're gonna be a bottom feeder.
