Did they change the format for the World Championship?
« on: February 22, 2008, 07:03:17 AM »
I thought top 8 in points for the season got the bye into the super 16, this year top 8 in qualifying got the bye.

And yeah, I do know it all.. I don't spend 30+ hours a week learning more about bowling for my heatlh... I do it so I know more than all of you.. which I do. (besides the random few that are staffers/work in the bowling business.. which that population is decreasing little by little)

I don't believe they did.  Same format as last year.  Two year's ago though it was the top 4 qualifiers and the top 4 in points advance to the Super 16.

I think it is better this way. However, I also liked it in They back in 2004 when they offered the top 8 point leaders in the super round of 16. Then they made the pointless change of only offering the top 4 point leaders in the round of 16 and the rest the top 4 from qualifying. This time they have only the top 8 from qualifying. It makes it more fair but if they were to ever have this tournament the very last tournament, I thought the top 8 point leaders were just as fair because it was like a reward for a great season. But you can't justify the person last year and before that was no 5 in points having to qualify when the no 4 in points did.
