Sundays final four (3-6-05)
« on: March 04, 2005, 12:04:58 PM »
Looks like we'll be seeing Jim Pratt, Danny Wiseman, Tony Reyes for the 80th time the past month, and Mika Koivuneimi.  Predictions?  BTW, what does Jim use, same with wiseman.  Is Tony still throwing brunswick?

Wiseman hit the pocket, but his ball hit like a jelly donut.  He was playing in Pratt's oil carrydown, which was a mistake.  A mistake that Mika didn't make.

Mika carried some critical shots.  The difference is when he got a break he struck.  When Pratt got missed he broke up a split.

Mika is pure talent, but he didn't break 200 in the first match and was still moving on the lanes during the title match, trying to find the right line.  Pratt had to bury his shots to strike, and Mika tripped out some slop.  Reactive wins over plastic.

That's the way I saw it anyways.

Totally agree. It's just I liked the way wiseman was throwing it, and I like his style to. I must say I feel for Reyes...poor guy. I have faith in him though the way he's bowling he has just got to get that first title soon! No offense but the last thing we need is another Brad Angelo. I love Angelos game but man why can't that dude win?

Again LOFT Control was a big part of today's show.

Tony Reyes may be a great guy and a great bowler.
But AGAIN on the show all I see from him is slams into the foul line, drops and noises that are usually loud on every delivery.  Finally around the 8th frame he finally thru one level on the lane and it looked and hit great!

He may do that all week but tightens up too much to do it on the show, I don't know.  But I felt sorry for him.

As I always say about Danny Wiseman.  He almost never loses but only runs out of time.  He just figured out the left lane and then the match was over.  What a great bowler.  My favorite righty, until Tommy Jones starting looking so great!(tie maybe?).

I always find the no thumb angle COOL.  I have an acquaintance that when he goes to Kegel they salivate!  Beautiful great technique.  This guy can bowl either thumb in or thumb out and looks just as classic either way.  Averages about 220 both ways but seems to be a little higher sets when nothumbing seems to fit better.  Can generate about 4 to 5 boards more when no thumbing!  In other words when the lanes require no thumbing he will often wing out a mid 700!

PRettey great looking style.  I think if he wasn't makin so much money doing what he was doing he could give Mr. Pratt a helluva no thumb run for his money!

Sorry you feel that way. I thought the name of the game was to knock down pins, regardless of how your "book" says to.

Pratt outbowled Mika, that was pretty obvious to me. Mika carried some slop and Pratt made fewer mistakes. I never like it when the better performer doesn't win.

The name of the game is to knock down pins. Slop or not, Mika won.

It'd be nice to see a NOTHUMBer win---just to see all the posts bashing NOTHUMB and then all the posts defending it. I dont really care either way---just dont tell us that we cant be something. Dont tell me I cant be accurate or precise. Thats one thing that drives me nuts. Maybe its harder for you to be accurate that way---but not for me. We may not live in a free country anymore but the bowling world is definitely a place you can feel free to say and do as you please. Its a beautiful thing.

Hay REV-O, It was nothing personal. I have seen kids do this a tear up their
wrists. It is a fundamentally bad way to bowl. It's hard to get kids to listen
and try to do what is best for their body when a pro does this. I did think he bowled well but it is not a style that most can use well. That is all I meant.
Probably could have took more time to write that the first time but caught it on the tail end of a break.
