Surprise, Surprise -Chris Collins drops out early
« on: May 31, 2009, 04:33:34 AM »
Imagine what it was like today - he bowled pretty bad - dropped out four games early.
Why do I suspect it's not an injury!

It might have been an injury, he could have hurt his hand or foot on the center equipment.

Just goes to show you that when these guys withdraw and are not injured how little heart they actually have. Lets see , its the last day with only a few games left and I'm not in contention so do I suck it up and finish which can build some character or do I take the easy way out and quit? I'm finishing no matter what. Now some of these guys will claim that they are injured, but do you think if they were still in the running they would withdrawal? I doubt it. Come on guys if you don't have the heart to finish what you started, what makes you think you could handle a season on the tour? Hope you guys didn't quit your day jobs.

Wow, I remember the good ole days when this forum was for talking about bowling and bowlers who did GOOD things.. Pretty sad when morons get on here and can only BASH someone like Chris Collins. You really have no time with your lives then come on here for that reason huh. Chris might have a hot head and a temper, but DON'T EVER question his HEART for this game. Why do you think Chris is a hot head?? BECAUSE of the LOVE he has for the game and the HATE he has for LOSING!!! You don't hate losing because you don't have passion and love and heart for the game!! Don't you ever dare question it!!

I don't see any of you out there trying out for Tour Trials?! How come??

Read my post georgie. Did I mention anyone by name? I gave my opinion about the guys who quit and are not injured and if you don't like it thats too bad. As far as hating to lose, are you saying that because you hate to lose, it is ok to quit? A lot of people hate to lose but not all of them quit while losing. The ones with heart will stick it out and finish and the ones without heart will pack up there stuff and quit. There, I did dare question it.

rayyy my post was directed at you and mumzie basically.. mumzie for being ignorant to even start this thread. He represents something that has to do with bowling with shirts4bowling.com. Needs to keep his opinions to himself when you represent a company like that.

I know chris very well, I have been on the same staff on him for many years with many different people in it. I have watched chris bowl many many times. He has some of the most passion for this sport. To leave the sport and come back because he couldn't stay away just shows how much he loves it! So what if he ended early even if he wasn't hurt. What is it to you guys to come on here and bash him for it. These are the guys you like to watch every freaking weekend and now your going to come on here and bash them? Get a life and move on with it. There are so many other things you could be talking about with the world today then someone W/Ding from a tournament you couldn't even imagine bowling or have the thought of bowling!! Go bowl it, 45 games in 5 days on those brutal conditions and tell me you don't want to W/D after day 3 tops!! Pathetic!

Call me names if you will - but don't call me ignorant. I have been within 10 feet of the FULL double bowling bags that Collins has thrown into the stands - hitting people who "care enough" to PAY to see these guys bowl. They don't deserve that treatment.

I've stood within 5 feet of Collins when he's been reprimanded - EVERY TIME I've ever seen him actually bowling at a tournament. Folks get on this forum and bash immature kids who act this way - where do you think they learn it????

I am NOT questioning Collin's talent - there's no question he's good. IF HE COULD CONTROL HIMSELF LIKE MOST GROWNUPS HAVE LEARNED TO DO, HE'D BE GREAT!!!
In the meantime, he leaves himself open to any and all attacks based on immature, unacceptable behavior.

I saw him in a local tournament about 4-5 years ago, which he won by 48 pins.  On his fill shot he left the 9 pin and was so mad that he threw his ball on the ground, chipping either the ball or the cement floor, hitting me in the face.  That was with him winning I would had hat to see what would have happened if he lost?????

Yeah if you've never met Chris and seen him explode, its really breathe taking sometimes.  When he's not bowling, he's one of the nicest guys I know, but when he's upset, everyone in the bowling center knows it.

I have no problem with fire and passion. LOTS of bowlers have that - myself included - at least the old me.
Where Mr. Collins crosses the line is with absurd temper tantrums and unnecessarily violent behavior.

Surprised he has not been banned for that type of behavior. We had a guy like him here in Nashville. This guy even ripped the settee off the floor and threw it into a wall! He almost hit someone. He is banned from many centers in our city and proprietors have threatened to call the police on him before.

In that case, it is time for therapy and some medication before you hurt someone. If Chris Collins hit me with a double bag or debris fro a concrete floor, its off to court we go!

I think he had his PBA card suspended for awhile after having a blow up at a regional.

Guess he had cussed few times after losing, then cursed out Harry when he fined him. And it went on from there.

Yeah I wasn't there, but he cussed out our regional director Harry O'Neal after Harry fined him for foul language.  He was suspened 6 months.  His brother gave up his card the next day for some reason lol
