"CARTER" vs. "WEBER"
« on: February 23, 2009, 12:37:29 AM »
I thought it was very fitting to see, as Jeff put it, "A classic 'Carter' vs. 'Weber' matchup" in the finale of the Plastic Ball championship.

I honestly wish we could get rid of all this expensive reactive garbage and go back to a simpler game where talent beats equipment.

Great win, Jeff!

I liked this tournament format, but would not want to see it more than once a year. As much as the "good old days" had their moments, I really did hate watching those guys in the 60s/70s pipe the ball up 15 with practically no hook past the arrows. I think if we saw something like that from week to week that it would get boring for us bowlers.

Lefty, they were trying harder to hook it.  Thought I heard Pete & Chris say that their hands hurt so much more this week.  PDW did say his resin balls do all the work where in this tournament he had to.

Chris and Pete worked harder to hook it and it got them into the show, but both were still throwing much straighter than usual.  I'm not saying we should go to plastic (my hands hurt enough already), I'm just suggesting that using reactive resin balls that aren't so aggressive might actually result in higher overall averages for all bowlers.

The reason thier balls were going straighter is because that is about all the coverage a plastic ball will give you on that pattern. If they were drier the balls would have hooked more, and more oil they would have hooked less.
