I am not really for the hambone thing but he is showing excitement about it. It's getting the crowd invovled.

the only thing more stupid than the hambone is the crotch-chop. i stand corrected. the crotch-chop isn't stupid. it's vulgar. and almost as important it's highly unprofessional.

Allow me to correct you again, its entertainment! And it works!

someone call the wahhmbulance because PDW did the crotch chop. Pull his card and ban him. Make all bowlers throw the ball and go sit down quietly. Library voices only please.

get a life..

I liked when Petey did the chop.

It was as if to say, "Rob Stone, this is what I think of your hambone!"

I wouldn't mind the expression so much if it hadn't become the main focus of every single streak of strikes (it is stated ad nauseam).

It's as if Rob Stone wants to perpetually place himself in our bowling lexicon, and, sadly, it looks as if he's succeeding.

bowling has a bad enough time gaining any type of respectable media coverage as it is. professional bowling as we know it, the pba, is not exactly the entity it once was. therefore, it would be in the best interests of the pba and it's members to present a positive image when encountering the media.

I can honestly say that if I didn't end up flipping through some channels some years ago and stumble apon Pete going crazy after a mess of strikes I wouldn't be bowling today. Pete's antics on TV make the show all that much more entertaining and if anything do the PBA good. 2 pennys

My .02 agrees.  I like Pete.  He's great for the game.  You here his agony when he  messes up & see his excitement when he does good.  He chops or points, yells "yeah baby" or "that's right" then sits down.  Other guys scream & point or wave their hands in an upward fashion to the crowd.  Not everyone has the same reactions.

pete has mellowed out on tv the last few years.  i can only imagine what he would have said/done if he would have tripped over his feet a few years back.................

the pba would put on about a 15 minute delay to make sure they caught it all.

ESPN should get rid of Rob Stone, and hire Jane Fonda to be the "color" commentator.

I agree with the previous posters that Pete Weber is not only an extremely good bowler (I mean excellent), but also one of the best personalities that the PBA has out there.

I also believe that Pete is a good spokesman for the PBA.  My son and I had the honor of meeting and speaking with Pete at the PBA Six Flags event near St. Louis last summer.  Not only did Pete talk to us for several minutes between matches, but also graciously signed an autograph for my son and when my son told him "Thank you", Pete said, "No, thank you!"

Maybe he was different in the past, but Pete was total class that day.  And that means a lot.  My son's favorite bowler is Pete Weber and he roots for him to win every time he is on TV.  And I do too.  Not to take away from the other bowlers.  A lot of them are great guys too.

never got the chance to meet pete myself but that seems to be a story told often about pete off the lanes.
