Title: The official weekly PBA Thread *Spoiler*
Post by: a_ak57 on January 09, 2005, 02:58:21 AM
Yep.  I'll be updating "what's in the bag", and the various scores to the games here.  YOu can discuss stuff.  Woo, bowling!

What's in the bag:

Semifinals
Mika Koivuniemi- Blazing inferno
Mike Machuga-  Classic Zone
Norm Duke- Triumph
Parker Bohn III- Impulse Zone

Finals
Mika-  Classic Zone
Parker-  Impulse on right, original inferno on left

Match Scores:

Match 1:  Mika defeats Machuga, 192 to 177.  Machuga opens twice, need 2 strikes to win in the 10th, and left the big 4.
Match 2:  Bohn defeats Duke 236 to 206.
Final:  Mika defeats parker 200-196 to capture his 5th title.  He then proceeded to high five the 6 foot geico lizard mascot.

WOO BRUNSWICK!!

Skills Challenge:
Parker Bohn defeats Brian Himmler 3 strikes to 1.

No.  that's a blazing.  IT's red.  I've seen the intense, it's bright yellow/orange.  This is a pure red color.

After watching Mika win like he did, after struggling all day, you have to be impressed. He was gritty and fought through a bunch of bad shots to get the win. His strong finish showed a ton of heart.

But brunsbob is scenile, he probably thought it was a chrome/yellow power groove.

Thats odd though.  I always thought the fuze had white and yellow labels on it, not just yellow.

Just curious....They mentioned that during the first game that if Machuga did this and this, and Mika did this and this that they would tie at 202. What exactly would they have done in the event of a tie on television?

A bowl off.  One shoots a frame, and the other has to match their pin count to tie, or get something better to win.

That was the sloppiest bowling I think that I have ever seen from proffesional bowlers, one would expect some of that from the everyday league bowler but from professional that really stinks

You can use any ball that has ever been approved.  Last year, Rat boy used the blue fuze on TV, and I remember Mike Aulby using uerathane on more than one occasion.

Rileybowler.  I would like to see you bowl on that pattern under the tv lights.  I would put money that you don't break 150.  The Chameleon pattern is one of the tougher one's out there and the tv lights cause the oil to change drastically.  Just because they didn't shoot 250 doesn't mean they sucked.  They made great shots with a few bad breaks that on a tough pattern will leave you many 6 counts.

You have to admit though, he has a point, it is kind of rediculous when pros miss 4 pins. Occasional slips are allowed i guess... but still...

Wow, why is it that the users of BR jump on the pros any chance they get for a slight miss on TV or a low score.

You guys have NO IDEA how hard PBA Pattern D/Chameleon is.  Go back to your league walls and bumper bowling patterns and lets see how many spares you miss or 190 games you shoot.  Everyone knows that a walled up pattern increases spare percentage too since the majority of league bowlers do not change their release on spares(same release, revrate, etc with a plastic ball that will still "hook up" to the pin when it finds friction).

To anyone not appreciative of these guys skill and abilities, bowl a PTQ or regional and see how bad you get trounced.  Trust me, I've been there and it's not a good feeling to see how bad you suck when compared to the guys that do this for a living.

Actually, I do. I've bowled on 8 sport condition/pba shots in the last 6 months, including pattern D. Cumulative average of 187, with an 8 game average of 160 on a 33 foot sport shot with screaming backends(really an average killer). I throw plastic at all spares hard and staying behind the ball, changing my release. There is still no excuse for missing a 4 pin, as mika said on tv once "pro's don't miss spares"
